CommVault® Simpana® Software enables thecentralization of Remote Office Data over a WANusing Continuous Capture Replication or DiscreteData Synchronization.

Scenario 1: Continuous Capture Replication

CommVault® Simpana® Replication softwareprovides continuous data protection by capturingdata written by a server, onto an attached disk(internal or external) in real time. Any disk that ismountable by the server can be seen andprotected with CommVault software. The

software duplicates the I/O stream as it is writtento the disk, and then sends the data as fast aspossible across the network to a second serversystem. Continuous data protection can also beleveraged in a Windows based clusteredenvironment for easy fail-over. CommVaultReplication iData Agent is also deployed on thesecond server to capture the replicated I/O streamand then to apply that I/O stream to a duplicatecopy of the data. This creates an up-to-datereplica. CommVault software inserts consistencymarkers in the replication log to enable thecreation of application-consistent recovery pointsnapshots at the destination.
