CONCEIVING AND BIRTHING IN THE

SPIRIT Part I:

Understanding the workings of the SPIRIT OF GOD with ourBODY SOUL AND SPIRIT

Introduction:All of life begins with conception and birth.

This is true also in the realm of the spirit. Things of God, and things of the Devil, are birthed in the spirit of man.

Parallel principles:• Conception and birthing in the SPIRIT has PARALLEL principles

with conception and birthing in the body like:“union”“impregnation”“seed”“womb”“hormonal changes” – changes in temperature, cravings, a certain kind of restlessness, sometimes depression, changes in facial and physical appearance“speaking to the baby” etc.

• However, before we look into this, we must first UNDERSTAND HOW THE SPIRIT WORLD inter-acts with our SPIRIT, SOUL AND BODY.

Let us begin with God:

GOD IS A TRI-UNITY1Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

* ELOHIM – plural, “Let US make man in our image…* “in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit”* many Scriptures support distinction between the three but they are one

PERFECT IN INDIVIDUALITY, PERFECT IN UNITY:

The FATHER has a HEAVENLY SPIRITUAL BODY (unique, different from that of angels; He has hands, feet, eyes, eternal) The SON has a GLORIOUS HUMAN BODY (Heb 10:5 “Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: ‘Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me’.” (NKJV) The SPIRIT does NOT HAVE A BODY – but can physically manifest (ex. dove, tongues of fire)

OUR TRI-PARTITE CONSTITUTION:

A MULTI-DIMENSIONAL

RELATING• Our spirit enables us to relate with the spirit (invisible) world• Our bodies relate with the physical (visible) world• Our soul, which results from the breath of God (“pheuma”, or wind, spirit( being breathed

our nostrils (body) – “and man became a living soul” is said to be THE SEAT OF OUR PERSON (mind, will, heart) – connects our body and spirit, and relates with our inner world

• IN THE LANGUAGE OF COMPUTER:THE SPIRIT IS THE “MOTHER BOARD”THE SOUL IS THE “PROCESSOR”THE BODY IS THE “HARDWARE”

HOW YOU BEHAVE DEPENDS ON YOUR “PROGRAM” IN THE MOTHERBOARD.ANOTHER WAY THEY PUT IT:1. Body is PHYSICAL CONSCIOUSNESS OR CONNECTION2. Soul is SELF CONSCIOUSNESS OR CONNECTION3. Spirit is connection with other beings (spirit beings) SPIRIT WORLD CONNECTION

• The Tabernacle and its Courtyard is a type of the "Threefold Nature of Man“: The "Courtyard" (OUTER COURT) represents his BODY, The "Holy Place" his SOUL, The "MOST HOLY PLACE" his SPIRIT, • and as there could be no communication between the "Courtyard" and the "Most

Holy Place," only through the "Holy Place," SO THERE CAN BE NO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN A MAN'S BODY AND SPIRIT ONLY THROUGH HIS SOUL.

Now we briefly look at “THE SPIRIT WORLD”….

THERE ARE THREE CLASSES OF SPIRIT BEINGS:

First of all, GOD is UNIQUE, standing alone,the UNCREATED SPIRIT BEING.

FatherSonHoly Spirit

So of the created spirit beings, we have 1. ANGELS – good (Michael etc.) and bad (Satan etc.)2. DEMONS – disembodied spirits (“pre-adamic race?”)3. HUMAN BEINGS – are spirit beings in a body

sometimes we deal with HUMAN SPIRITS in deliverance sessions or spiritual warfare

NOTE: some Bible scholars believe that CHERUBIM are entirely different created beings; they are not angels strictly, but “beasts” of God or “living creatures”

OUR ACCESS TO THE SPIRIT WORLD

• Human Beings have limited access to the "Spirit" World. The LIMITING DEVICE is our "fleshy" bodies. OUR PHYSICAL BODIES GREATLY LIMIT AND CONTAIN OUR CAPACITY TO PERCEIVE AND APPREHEND THE SPIRIT WORLD.

• If we die, our SPIRITS will be RELEASED from our bodies and we will have FULL ACCESS TO THE SPIRIT WORLD

• YET, EVEN IN THE FLESH, IT IS STILL POSSIBLE, IN FACT DESIRABLE, AND NECESSARY, THAT OUR SPIRIT-MAN MUST HAVE ACCESS TO THE SPIRIT REALM OF GOD

HOW DO WE HAVE ACCESS TO THE SPIRIT WORLD OF GOD?

ANSWER: IT DEPENDS.It depends on whether we are BORN AGAIN or NOT.

BEFORE we were in Christ (before we were born again), WE WERE SPRITUALLY DEAD (meaning, our spirits are DEAD – no relationship with God, no capacity to know God, no ability to understand God, no desire to seek God)

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,- Ephesians 2:1 NIV

“DEAD” – in Hebrew simply means “separated”

THAT IS WHY: “YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN.” (John 3:3)

PLEASE OBSERVE THIS CAREFULLY:• We were “dead in our transgressions and sins”, MEANING, WE

HAVE NO ACCESS TO, CANNOT COMMUNICATE WITH, CANNOT RECEIVE ANYTHING FROM GOD – because WE WERE SPIRITUALLY DEAD, because of our SIN;

• Romans 8:8-“SO THEN, THOSE WHO ARE IN THE FLESH CANNOT PLEASE GOD.”

• 1Cor. 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

• HOWEVER, WE HAVE NO TROUBLE RECEIVING SPIRITUALLY FROM SATAN AND THE EVIL SPIRITUAL WORLD:

Eph 2:1-2 “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, THE SPIRIT who now works in the sons of disobedience,” (NKJV)

SO IF WE ARE NOT YET BORN AGAIN…

• WE HAVE NO CONTACT WITH GOD OR THE HOLY SPIRIT

• BUT WE ARE UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE SPIRIT OF DISOBEDIENCE

• Eph 2:1-2 “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, THE SPIRIT who now works in the sons of disobedience,” (NKJV)

HOW COULD GOD, THEN, COMMUNICATE WITH US IF WE WERE DEAD IN SINS, or SPIRITUALLY DEAD?

When God loved us in Christ, HE QUICKENED OUR SPIRIT, or MADE OUR SPIRITS ALIVE (meaning, He restored our capacity to seek God, know God, desire God, understand God)

“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, GOD MADE YOU ALIVE WITH CHRIST. He forgave us all our sins,” - Colossians 2:13 NIV

“…made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved. ”– Ephesians 2:5 NIV

THIS IS VERY, VERY IMPORTANT:

GOD MADE OUR DEAD SPIRIT ALIVE!!!

WHAT HAPPENS THEN TO OUR SPIRIT THAT WAS MADE ALIVE?Prov 20:27 ¶ “The spirit of man is the candle (or lamp) of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.”

Meaning, our new spirit-man is now GOD’S LIGHT IN OUR INNER MAN!

QUESTION:WHICH CAME FIRST: OUR BELIEVING GOD, OR OUR SPIRITS BECOMING ALIVE?Answer:God MADE OUR SPIRITS ALIVE FIRST, THEN we acquired the capacity to be convicted of sin, to seek God, to understand that we are sinners, then we believed God, then we got saved.GOD WAS THE ACTOR, GOD WAS THE INITIATOR, WE ONLY RESPONDED.THAT IS WHY SALVATION IS ALL BY GRACE through FAITH.When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, GOD MADE YOU ALIVE WITH CHRIST. He forgave us all our sins, - Colossians 2:13 NIV

…MADE US ALIVE WITH CHRIST EVEN WHEN WE WERE DEAD IN TRANSGRESSIONS--it is by grace you have been saved. – Ephesians 2:5 NIV

WHAT HAPPENS NOW WHEN GOD “MADE US ALIVE”?

"If any man be in Christ, he is a NEW CREATURE; old things are passed away; behold, all thingsare become new."--2 Corinthians 5:17.

WE ARE BORN OF THE SPIRIT John 3 – THAT WHICH IS OF THE SPIRIT IS SPIRIT, THAT WHICH IS OF THE FLESH IS FLESH

IN OTHER WORDS, WE ARE NEW SPIRIT BEINGS!!!NOW WE CAN RECEIVE FROM GOD; NOW OUR SPIRITS CAN PICK UP COMMUNICATION FROM GOD, NOW OUR SPIRITS CAN RESPOND TO GOD.

It is like THE PRESENCE OF GOD IN THE HOLY OF HOLIES:

• After the completion of the Tabernacle it remained empty of the "Presence of God" until the "Spirit of God" descended and took up His abode in the "Most Holy Place."

• So a man may be complete as to body, soul and spirit, but his spiritual nature will remain unregenerate until the Holy Spirit enters and takes possession of the "spirit" compartment of his nature. This happens when the "New Birth" takes place. UNTIL THEN, WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT IN HIS SPIRIT CHAMBER, MAN’S “TEMPLE” IS DEAD.

BEFORE AND AFTER:

BEFORE CHRIST: our spiritis dead, we cannot receive thethings of God;AFTER WE RECEIVED CHRIST:1. Our spirit BECAME ALIVE2. Our SPIRIT MAN IS TOTALLY NEW!!3. Our spirit man is TOTALLY GOOD!

THE SOULISH MAN, however, remains in sin:

OUR SOULISH MAN with its set cravings and ways and attitudes and world view, come in conflict with out SPIRIT MANRomans 8:8-“So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” Plus the desires and old habits of OUR PHYSICAL MAN (ITS APPETITES, desires, etc.) come in conflict with our SPIRIT MAN

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. (NKJV)

THE ROMANS 7 PHENOMENON:ROMANS 7

14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good.17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.18 For I know that IN ME (THAT IS, IN MY FLESH) NOTHING GOOD DWELLS; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good.22 FOR I DELIGHT IN THE LAW OF GOD ACCORDING TO THE INWARD MAN.23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?25 I thank God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

WHAT IS THIS PHENOMENON?

• IT IS THE PHENOMENON OF SPIRIT VERSUS SOUL• IT IS NOT SPIRIT VERSUS SPIRIT!• If you are a Christian, YOU ONLY HAVE ONE SPIRIT –

the BORN-AGAIN SPIRIT, WHICH IS TOTALLY OF GOD, TOTALLY NEW, TOTALLY GOOD!

• BUT WE HAVE TWO NATURES – THE SPIRITUAL NATURE, AND THE SINFUL NATURE (THE SOUL AND FLESH)

• THE KEY IS: WHICH WILL RULE, THE SPIRIT MAN OR THE SOULISH MAN?

• THE ANSWER IS IT DEPENDS ON WHO IS STRONGER

HOW DO WE MAKE THE SPIRIT STRONGER?

• We have to UNDERSTAND HOW TO WORK WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD and how HIS SPIRIT STRENGTHENS OUR SPIRIT…• So that our SPIRIT-MAN WILL

RULE THE SOUL AND THE BODY

This is the “age of the Holy Spirit” so the Holy Spirit does much of the work in the

believer’s life:• The Holy Spirit anointed Jesus and sent Him out to preach the gospel (see

Luke 4:18-19); In fact, both• the Father and the Holy Spirit sent Jesus (see Isaiah 48:16).• --The Holy Spirit testifies or witnesses of Jesus (see John 15:26).• --The Holy Spirit leads God’s people (see Romans 8:14).• --The Holy Spirit teaches and causes us to remember the truth (John

14:26).• --The Holy Spirit comforts us as does Christ (John 14:16).• --The Holy Spirit strives with us (see Genesis 6:3).• --The Holy Spirit reproves us of sin, righteousness, and judgment (see John

16:8-11).• --The Holy Spirit instructs us (see Nehemiah 9:20).

The works of the Holy Spirit:

• -The Holy Spirit speaks, guides, hears and shows (John 16:13-15).

• --The Holy Spirit speaks, chooses, calls and sends forth (see Acts 13:1-4).

• --The Holy Spirit gives messages to prophets and they declare: “Thus saith the Holy Ghost” (see Acts 21:11).

HOW ABOUT THE SON? Can He speak to us, and can we hear His voice?

• John 10:14, 27–28, Jesus says, “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. … My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

• THIS HEARING IS IN THE SPIRITUAL REALM; even Jesus’ enemies “heard” Him when He was on earth; TAKE NOTE: IT IS THE SHEEP (the BELIEVERS) WHO HEAR HIS VOICE

HOW ABOUT THE FATHER?

• “God spoke to Noah, saying” (Genesis 8:15).• “The Lord had said unto Abram …” (Genesis 12:1).• Ge 26:24 And the LORD appeared unto him the same

night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.

• “The Lord said to Moses …” (Exodus 24:12).• “Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah …” (Isaiah 38:4). THESE, HOWEVER, ARE OLD TESTAMENT PASSAGES.HOW ABOUT IN THE NEW TEATAMENT DISPENSATION?

In the New Testament:• Hebrews 1:1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

John 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

SO IT SEEMS THAT THE FATHER DOES NOT SPEAK DIRECTLY ANYMORE TO HIS CHILDREN IN THE NEW TESTAMENT, BUT THROUGH HIS SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT.

THE PETER EXPERIENCE (Acts 10:9-22)

“About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10 He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. 13 Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”14 “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”15 The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”16 This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

The Peter experience:• While Peter was wondering about the meaning of the vision (KJV:

“doubting what the dream meant”), the men sent by Cornelius found out where Simon’s house was and stopped at the gate. 18 They called out, asking if Simon who was known as Peter was staying there.

• 19 While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Simon, three[a] men are looking for you. 20 So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them.”

• 21 Peter went down and said to the men, “I’m the one you’re looking for. Why have you come?”

• 22 The men replied, “We have come from Cornelius the centurion. He is a righteous and God-fearing man, who is respected by all the Jewish people. A holy angel told him to ask you to come to his house so that he could hear what you have to say.” 23 Then Peter invited the men into the house to be his guests.

SO HERE YOU HAVE:

• 1. A VISION• 2. a VOICE HEARD (voice of the Lord)• 3. A SPIRIT SPEAKING (not a voice, and it is not said to

have been “heard”)

• THIS WAS IN A TRANCE, OR DREAM (Peter fell asleep)• SO IT WAS THE SPIRIT THAT PICKED UP ALL THIS

COMMUNICATION, not the body or the soul

SO NOW:

• IT IS VERY POSSIBLE TO RECEIVE FROM THE LORD THROUGH THE SPIRIT, WITHOUT THE INTERVENING FACULTIES OF THE SOUL AND THE BODY

• IN FACT, CHRISTIANS SHOULD BE IN CONVERSATIONAL INTER-ACTION WITH THE SPIRIT EVERYDAY

We however note that, in the new Testament…

• The overwhelming experiences of communication with God is WITH OR THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT

• Very few or little has there been a direct communication with Jesus Himself after the ascension

• Some exceptions: 1. Paul in the Damascus road

2. John in the Book of revelations

Contrast THE PAUL EXPERIENCE• Acts 9:1-71 Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest (CERTAINLY HE WAS NOT YET A CHRISTIAN HERE)2 and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.3 As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and SUDDENLY A LIGHT SHONE AROUND HIM FROM HEAVEN. (THIS WAS A PHYSICAL LIGHT)4 THEN HE FELL TO THE GROUND, and HEARD A VOICE (THIS WAS AN AUDIBLE VOICE HEARD BY THE PHYSICAL EARS) saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?“ 5 And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I AM JESUS, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.“ (CLEARLY, IT WAS NOT THE HOLY SPIRIT SPEAKING BUT JESUS)6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You want me to do?" Then the Lord said to him, "Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."7 And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. (NKJV)

OBSERVE:

1. Paul at this time was not a Christian 2. He therefore did not have a renewed spirit3. Therefore his spirit-man could not hear God4. SO JESUS HAD TO TALK TO HIM THROUGH HIS PHYSICAL SENSE

OF HEARING FOR HIS SOUL TO ASSESS

SO WHAT HAPPENED TO SAUL? See Acts 9:8-19- He became blind for three days- Went to Damascus- Ananias a disciple was instructed by the Lord to minister to Paul;

Ananias at first did not want to obey for fear of Paul (Saul), but the Lord persisted…

The Paul Experience• ACTS 9:15-19But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.16 "For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake."17 And Ananias went his way and entered the house; AND LAYING HIS HANDS ON HIM (this is “impartation of spirit”) he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me THAT YOU MAY RECEIVE YOUR SIGHT AND BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT."18 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.19 So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus”. (NKJV)

SO NOTICE:

1. Christ spoke to him AUDIBLY (body, and soul)2. Paul heard CHRIST audibly and physically3. Then Ananias, a Christian, LAID HANDS ON HIM,

IMPARTING THE HOLY SPIRIT4. THEN PAUL RECEIVED THE SPIRIT5. THEN HIS SPIRIT WAS RENEWED, HE HAD A NEW

SPIRIT-MAN

After that, Paul began to preach…

So

• It appears that the FATHER Himself does not speak DIRECTLY to us, even though we are taught to PRAY TO THE FATHER, through Jesus Christ the Son, with the Holy Spirit interceding for and helping us

HERE THEN IS THE SITUATION:

• AFTER WE BECAME CHRISTIANS, WE CAN NOW PICK UP FROM GOD! Before, we just receive from THE ENEMY

• The “SPIRIT WORLD”, also sometimes called the "Heavenlies" are filled with spirit beings. They are of two classes, good and evil. They are classified as "Seraphim," "Cherubim," "Angels" (Good and Bad),"Principalities," "Powers," "Age Rulers of Darkness," "Wicked Spirits,"(Eph. 6:12), "Thrones," "Dominions," (Col. 1:1-6), "Fallen Angels," (2 Pet. 2:4),"Spirits in Prison," (1 Peter 3:18-20), "Demons," "Seducing Spirits," 1 Tim. 4:1.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

• Angels are SPIRIT BEINGS WITH HEAVENLY OR SPIRITUAL BODIES (which can be asserted or manifested physically, as they can speak and be heard, they can kill humans, etc…)

• The HOLY SPIRIT on the OTHER HAND is ENTIRELY SPIRIT, WITHOUT A BODY, but can manifest physically (dove, fire, etc.)

• THE HOLY SPIRIT IS SPECIAL AND VERY CRUCIAL because

THE HOLY SPIRIT:

• 1. INDWELLS or LIVES IN US• 2. SEALS US• 3. GIVE US ANOINTING TO MAKE US KNOW THE TRUTH• 4. PRODUCES IN US FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT• 5. MAKES JESUS KNOWN TO US• 6. REVEALS THINGS OF GOD TO US

SO MORE THAN ANGELS, WE GET OUR COMMUNICATION, STRENGTH, LIGHT, LIFE, FROM GOD FROM THE SPIRIT, THROUGH THE SPIRIT, IN THE SPIRIT, WITH THE SPIRIT, BY THE SPIRIT

THEREFORE,• If it is the HOLY SPIRIT of God who makes God real to us

in our Christian life, IT IS OUR SPIRIT-MAN THAT WILL CONNECT WITH HIM

REMEMBER:1. The SOUL IS AT ENMITY (LUSTEST AGAINST, IS

CONTRARY TO) THE SPIRIT (Gal. 6:17)2. THE BODY CANNOT PERCEIVE THE SPIRIT, AS IT IS

MEANT FOR THE PHYSICAL WORLD (I Cor. 2:9 “no eye has seen, no ear heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for them that love Him, BUT GOD HAS REVEALED IT TO US BY HIS SPIRIT)

WHAT IS OUR TASK AND OBJECTIVE:

• To STRENGTHEN THE SPIRIT-MAN• AND SANCTIFY THE SOUL AND BODYMEANING, SANCTIFY THE TOTAL MAN – SPIRIT SOUL AND BODY:Writing to the Thessalonians Paul says, "I pray God

yourWHOLE 'SPIRIT' AND 'SOUL' AND 'BODY' be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Thess. 5:23.

HOW TO DO THIS:

The Bible gives us VERY POWERFUL directions and instructions:

FIRST, DIVIDE ASUNDER THE SOUL AND SPIRIT:Writing to the Hebrews he says-"The Word of God is quick (alive), and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of 'Soul' and 'Spirit, 'and of the 'Joints and Marrow' (body), and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart(soul)." Heb. 4:12.

So here is technique number one: DIVIDE ASUNDER

THE SOUL AND SPIRIT

OUR HABITS BETWEEN SOUL AND SPIRIT WHEREBY THE SOUL CONTAMINATES, POLLUTES, WEAKENS THE SPIRIT

• THE DIVIDING ASUNDER• What does “dividing asunder” mean? THE SEPARATION, THE

SEGREGATION (to make the spirit operate freely from the influence of the soul) – “THE DIVIDING ASUNDER OF SOUL AND SPIRIT”

• Also the CUTTING OFF OF THE INFLUENCE OF THE PHYSICAL (joints and marrows) on the spiritual

• AND THE DIVIDING OF SPIRITUAL THOUGHTS VERSUS SOULISH THOUGHTS (“discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”(soul).

Example: THE EYES SEE A PHYSICALLY ATTRACTIVE PERSON (sight); it passes it through the soul (imagination); the spirit begins to worship it

TO DIVIDE ASUNDER THE SOUL AND THE SPIRIT IS TO “CLOSE” THE SOUL GATES

CLOSING THE SOULGATES MEANS TOCLOSE INSTINCT,EMOTION, THE IMAGINATION, THE REASON AND THE MEMORY FROM RULING OUR MIND, WILL AND HEART, BUT ALLOWING PRAYER, WORSHIP, FAITH, MIND OF CHRIST, AND STILL SMALL VOICE TO RULE.

WHEN we operate in the spirit, we are now able to SANCTIFY THE SOUL

There is a “radiation” from the spirit chamber to the “soul chamber”

• REASON, INSTINCT, MEMORY, INTUITION, AND EMOTION (soul gates) are now SANCTIFIED by WORSHIP, PRAYER, FAITH, MIND OF CHRIST, AND STILL SMALL VOICE.

WHAT ARE THE REGULAR SANCTIFYERS OF THE SOUL CHAMBER?

• Beautiful and wonderful the HOLY PLACE may be, it is not the highest of the Christian experience, nor the operational principle of his life

• The soul may be sanctified, but it is still the soul• The Christian MUST TRANSITION TO THE SPIRIT• HOW?

HOW DO WE TRANSFER FROM SOUL TO SPIRIT OPERATION?

• Remember the Tabernacle, the set up of the Holy Place vis-à-vis the Holy of Holies

The two chambers are separated by a veil

• HOW CAN THE HIGH PRIEST GO TO THE HOLY OF HOLIES through the veil?

WHEN HE PRAYS AT THE ALTAR OF INCENSE ROM THE HOLY PLACE…

THEN HE ENTERS THE HOLY OF HOLIES by bringing BURNING INCENSE and BLOOD TO SPRINKLE

JESUS HAS ALREADY TORN THE VEIL

• WE CAN NOW FREELY ENTER THE HOLY OF HOLIES

• BUT THE WAY OF ENTERING THE HOLY OF HOLIES IS WHEN WE PRAY

And HAVE THE BLOOD OF JESUS sprinkled upon our FACULTIES (MIND, WILL, HEART) – because our spirit man is the HOLY OF HOLIES of the temple of our bodies

VERY IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION:

• By being spiritual (spirited-directed), we do NOT mean to “kill” the soul

• RATHER, WE MAKE THE SOUL IN SUBMISSION TO THE SPIRIT

• BUT GOD RESPECTS THE SOUL – the questions of the soul, the concerns of the soul

• THE LORD DOES NOT WANT TO MAKE US ROBOTS• HE WANTS A CONVERSATION, not a COMPULSION

A “HARD VIEW OF GOD”MATTHEW 25:14-30 The “one-talent” servant

THE LORD ALLOWS, WELCOMES, AND SEEKS CONVERSATION, NOT ROBOTIC RELATING:

• WHEN WE SAY “close the soul gates”, we DO MEAN “Kill the soul.”

• THE LORD RESPECTS OUR FEELINGS, OUR FEARS, OUR ANXIETIES – He allows us to express them

• BUT THE KEY THING IS WE STRIVE TO MOVE UP FROM SOUL TO SPIRIT LEVEL…

• So in the process, sometimes there is “conversation” between our soul and spirit

CONVERSATION BETWEEN SOUL AND SPIRIT, TRANSITION (examples):

Psalm 13:1 A Psalm of David. How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? 2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?3 Consider and hear me, O LORD my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death; 4 Lest my enemy say, "I have prevailed against him"; Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved. (SOULISH START)

Then he transitions to SPIRIT:5 But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. (WORSHIP, PRAYER, MIND OF CHRIST, sung word…)6 I will sing to the LORD, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.(NKJV)

AN EXAMPLE OF PRAYER OF THE SOUL, BUT DIRECTED TO THE SPIRIT

PSALM 42: A Contemplation of the sons of Korah.

1 As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?3 My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, "Where is your God?“ 4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast.5 WHY ARE YOU CAST DOWN, O MY SOUL? And why are you disquieted within me? HERE YOU WILL SEE THE “SEE-SAW” OF THE MIND, HEART AND WILL BETWEEN SOUL AND SPIRIT

Great men of faith have been almost overwhelmed in the soul chamber:

1. David2. Elijah (asked the Lord to take away his life)3. Jeremiah (had to write Lamentations)4. Habakuk (How long O Lord? Why O Lord?...)

BUT ONCE TRANSFERRED TO THE SPIRIT CHAMBER WHERE THERE IS THE SPIRIT OF GOD, they recover:“O LORD, I have heard your speech and was afraid; O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy” (Habakuk 3:2)

THE POINT IS:• Christ as the Bridegroom, allows full and free

conversation with His Bride, even things coming from the soul

• What is important is, at the end of the day, Bride positions her mind, heart, and will in the spirit

WHY ARE WE DISCUSSING THIS SPIRIT-SOUL DYNAMICS IN CONCEIVING AND BIRTHING IN

THE SPIRIT?BECAUSE WHEN WE CONCEIVE IN THE SPIRIT, SOMETIMES THERE IS AN EFFECT IN THE SOUL…JUST LIKE NORMAL MOTHERS IN THEIR PREGNANCY:-- craving-- vomiting-- temperature changes-- sleepiness-- sometimes mood swings, depression-- bodily changes (ex. Gestational diabetes)WE WILL DISCUSS THIS IN PART 2, but now just understand the dynamic of spirit-soul inter-action

AND THE LORD, OUR LOVING HUSBAND, understands our soul:

“Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.” I Pet. 5:7SO GOD UNDERSTANDS OUR SOUL, but longs for us to ascend to the Spirit

HOW ABOUT THE BODY GATES:The Bible says: MORTIFY THE DEEDS OF THE FLESH

Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

MORTIFY – to embalm

BY WHAT? STILL BY THE SPIRIT –

meaning, STILL BYWORSHIP, PRAYER, FAITH, MIND OF CHRIST, STILL SMALL VOICE

THIS IS NOW LIVING IN THE SPIRIT, BY THE SPIRIT:

This principle is patterned after the heavenly Tabernacle HEB. 9:23

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT:

• Even in Heaven,The principle is thesame.

THE THRONE ROOM RULES (Holy of Holies). (Spirit)The HOLY PLACE (twenty four elders) SUBMITS. (Soul)The OUTER COURT EXECUTES. (Body) In the outer court, the sacrificial lamb is offered (Christ) and the flesh is killed.

HOW DO WE MORTIFY THE FLESH?

By FASTINGFasting is voluntary deprivation of food, water, pleasures, etc. in order to “subdue” the flesh and “release the spirit”.

It is “weakening” the flesh and strengthening the spirit.

1 Cor 9:27 But I discipline (beat) my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

EXAMPLE: Job 31:1 “I have made a covenant with my eyes not to look at (gaze, lustfully look at) a beautiful woman.”

WHY IS IT VERY IMPORTANT TO KEEP THINGS THIS WAY?

• SO THAT WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT CONCEIVES THE THINGS OF GOD IN US, OUR TOTAL MAN (SPIRIT SOUL AND BODY – the total temple) is READY TO CONCEIVE AND RECEIVE THE THINGS OF GOD, AND BIRTH THEM THROUGH!

ONE LAST:• Remember that MAN WAS CREATED on the SIXTH

DAY• God RESTED on the SEVENTH DAY• Therefore, MAN’S FIRST DAY was GOD’S REST DAY

(seventh day)• Man’s FIRST DAY WAS TO ENJOY WITH GOD HIS REST• Man’s WORK FOLLOWED FROM REST (Man did not

rest because he was tired from his work; rather, he WORKED BECAUSED HE ENJOYED AND WAS ENERGIZED WITH THE REST OF GOD

• Our REST IS IN THE SPIRIT WITH GOD, our WORK IS IN THE SOUL AND THE BODY;

A RESTLESS SPIRIT CANNOT CONCEIVE

• Our spirits must REST IN GOD in: WORSHIP PRAYER FAITH MIND OF CHRIST STILL SMALL VOICE.

THEN WE ARE READY TO CONCEIVE AND GIVE BIRTH TO THE THINGS OF GOD
