Conference OverviewWorld Economic Outlook ConferenceIHS invites you to become a part of the World Economic Outlook Conference, widely considered the premier forum on the direction of the global economy for more than 20 years. Chaired by Nariman Behravesh, IHS’s distinguished Chief Economist and author of the recently published book Spin-Free Economics: A No-Nonsense, Nonpartisan Guide to Today’s Global Economic Debates, this event offers critical assessments and analysis of how the economic environment will impact countries and industries, as well as actionable insights that help organizations more effectively prepare their business strategies.
During our Days 1 & 2 Plenary Sessions, a mixture of powerful keynotes and panel discussions explore questions most critical to the future economic environment. Our Day 3 Seminars provide a deep view of key industries: Healthcare & Pharmaceutical, Trade & Transportation, and Pricing & Purchasing. These Concurrent Seminars offer delegates a greater understanding of the outlooks and key issues shaping each industry.
Networking is a critical component of the World Economic Outlook Conference, and we offer several networking events over the course of the conference for delegates to connect with executives and strategists across a diverse group of industries.
Who Participates? This event brings together a community of senior economists, business planners, market strategists, supply chain managers, and procurement professionals from a range of industries to discuss the business opportunities and risks facing organizations on a global level, as well as offer critical insights into the potential impacts from heightened economic, political, and market forces.

“ As the country begins to recover from the worst recession in three decades, many are still trying to unravel exactly what happened—and uncover the lessons learned,” said Daniel Yergin, a widely recognized authority on oil, international politics, and economics. Yergin—who is chairman of the consulting firm IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates—made his comments today during a keynote address before a crowd gathered at the InterContinental Hotel in Boston for IHS Global Insight’s World Economic Outlook Conference.
Earlier in the day, IHS chief economist Nariman Behravesh told conference attendees to expect a slow recovery from the recession—so slow, in fact, that for the first year it might not feel like a recovery.
