Dr. Norah Patten is an aeronautical engineer, a faculty member at the International Space University and a citizen scientist-astronaut candidate with Project PoSSUM (Polar Suborbital Science in the Upper Mesosphere). Norah is an award winning STEM advocate. Norah participated in the International Space University Space Studies Program in 2010, holds a PhD from UL. In September 2019, Norah released her children’s book called ‘Shooting for the Stars’, published by The O’Brien Press and it was voted the An Post Children’s book of the year, senior, 2019.

Dr Ebun Joseph is Lecturer and module Coordinator of Black Studies and critical race theory in Education at UCD and a Teaching Fellow at Trinity College. She holds the position of Career Development Consultant at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Ebun is an author; TV panellist, Columnist for the Dublin Inquirer on race, Chairperson of African Scholars Association Ireland (AfSAI) and an equality activist. She is a co-author of the book, Challenging Perceptions of Africa in Schools: Critical Approaches to Global Justice Education, with Routledge and is presently working on another book, Racial stratification in Ireland: A Critical race theory of labour market inequality with Manchester University press.

Sean Crowe a graduate of UL and member of the CFA Institution was appointed Chief Executive, Markets and Treasury, in March 2018. Sean joined the Bank of Ireland Group in 1993 and has worked as Head of Markets for Global Markets and Managing Director for Fixed Income, Property and Alternative Product for Bank of Ireland Asset Management. Before joining the Group, he worked as a Senior Fund Manager with Eagle Star Investment Managers. In addition to his role, Sean is the Executive Sponsor for Gender Balance within the Group.

Dr. Tom Clonan a retired army officer (Captain) Doctoral Thesis (The Status and Roles Assigned Female Personnel in the Irish Armed Forces, DCU 2000) revealed shockingly high levels of sexual violence including sexual assault and rape of Irish female soldiers.  At a very personal cost, which he will take us through, his work, led to the transformation of the workplace culture of the Irish Defence Forces with regard to equality, diversity and dignity in the workplace.

Alexis Goldfarb joined Northern Trust in March 2019 and supports the delivery of the. diversity, equity and inclusion strategy in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). As part of the Global Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion she is responsible for supporting the business to recruit, develop and retain a diverse and inclusive workforce. Before joining Northern Trust, Alexis worked in the Diversity and Inclusion team at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP. She holds a BA in Business Management and Human Resource Management and is a qualified mental health first aider.

Nikki Bradley is an adapted adventurer and motivational speaker, ambassador and a fitness enthusiast with a special interest in adapted training. Diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer (Ewing’s Sarcoma) at sixteen and the receiver of a second total right hip replacement at the age of twenty six, Nikki has been on a truly unique journey. In 2013 Nikki set up a fitness based awareness campaign called Fighting Fit For Ewing’s where she regularly partakes in physical challenges to highlight the importance of exercise for rehabilitation. Nikki is the second person on record to complete the Fan Dance Race Series on crutches. Awarded ‘Mosting Inspiring Person of the Year’ by Outsider Magazine and the winner of one of Ten Outstanding Young People awards in Ireland, Nikki has found success from her humble beginnings.

Professor Sarah Moore was UL’s first Dean of Teaching and Learning a role she played for ten years. She has also served three terms as Associate Vice President, Academic and is now acting director for UL’s Creative Writing Programmes and founder of UL’s Creative Writing Winter School. Sarah has a PhD from Cranfield University, and an MA and BA from UCD. From 2013-2018 she was Ireland’s inaugural chair of the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and during that time developed and led many sector-wide enhancements and innovations. Also a published novelist, her work has been translated into over sixteen different languages, adapted for the stage in Edinburgh and the West End, and shortlisted for several awards including the Waterstones Prize for children’s literature, the Calderdale Prize and the Irish Book Awards.

Kieran McSherry is Director of Manufacturing Engineering for J&J Visioncare Limerick.Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Kieran worked with Dell & Hewlett Packard (HP). Kieran is from Nenagh, Tipperary. He is a graduate of the University of Limerick.

Dr Marie Connolly is an accredited Executive Coach with a Master’s Degree in Education and a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) in Higher Education Management from the University of Bath. With over 30 years’ experience in HR, Marie currently holds the position of Head of Equality and Diversity. Marie successfully led the University’s bid in achieving the prestigious Athena SWAN (AS) Bronze Institution Award in 2015, and the institutions’ renewal to the AS Expanded Charter in 2018. Marie is the chair of the National Athena SWAN Practitioners Network and a member of the Athena SWAN Steering Committee where she previously held the position of chairperson.

Professor Desmond Fitzgerald is Professor of Molecular Medicine, UCD Vice-President for Health Affairs and Chief Academic Officer of the Ireland East Hospital Group. He has served on several national bodies, including the Irish Medicines Board, the Health Research Board (which he chaired) and the Irish Heart Foundation, as well as committees of the European Society of Cardiology, the UK National Institute for Health Research and the Merck Foundation International Fellowship Programme.

Clara Harte leads the EMEA Talent Acquisition team for Northern Trust, managing recruitment across 10 locations from Limerick to the Middle East, Continental Europe and Channel Islands. She is a Business, Economic and Social Studies graduate from Trinity College. Clara is passionate about the advancement of diverse recruitment practices and has been involved in a number of women’s networking groups and councils through previous roles.

Sean O’Reilly an Electronic Engineering graduate of UL has over 27 years’ experience in the technology industry both in Ireland and North America. He has worked in Dell Technologies since 1997 where has held Engineering, Program Management and Logistics Roles. Sean also plays a significant role in running the Limerick campus, as well as his day job. Sean completed an expat assignment in the US in 2017 where he ran North America Logistics for 2 years.
