Weallhavenaturalrhythm.Itswhatmakesuswanttoswaywiththemusicortotapourtoestoadrumbeat.Consciousdanceletsususeournaturalrhythmpurposefullyforphysical,mental,emotional,andspiritualhealthandwellbeing.
Consciousdancehasbeenpartofthehumanexperiencethroughouthistory.Ithasbeenusedasprayerforbountifulcrops,successfulhunts,fertility,safety,love,inspiration,vindication,andsafereturns.AspracticedintodaysWesternculture,consciousdanceparticipantschooseanindividual,personalintentwhentheydance.Thisintentionreleasescreativeenergytoproducearesult,oractivation.
NativeAmericanraindancesandgreencorndancesareperfectexamplesofconsciousdancewithintentionandactivation.Tribalmembersdanceforapurpose(intention)toreleaseenergythatproducesanoutcome(activation).
Consciousmeansmovingwithintention,justasraindancerswoulddo.Therespers
onalpurposetoconsciousdance.Thepurposeisforyoutochoose.
Maybeyoudliketoshiftyourmentalperspectiveasyouthinkaboutaproblemthatyoujustcantseemtosolve.Maybeyoudliketorelievestressorfreeyourselffromnegativeemotions.Maybeyoudliketoactivateintensejoythatsbeenblockedinyourday-to-daylife.Maybeyoudliketoimproveyourphysicalflexibilityoryourcardiovascularhealth.MaybeyoudliketofeeltheelementalforcesofcreationandexperienceinneronenesswiththeDivine(inwhichcaseyouaremovinginSacredDance).Whateveryourintention,youllholditforemostinconsciousdance.
Asaconsciousdancepractitioner,youdontneedtotakelessonstolearncomplicatedsteps.Consciousdanceisfreeform.Yousimplyfeeltherhythmofthemus
icoryourowninnerrhythmandyoumove.Asyoumove,youllkeepyourintentioninmind,andyoullletyourmovementsandinnerrhythmflow.
