Metric units of lengthVarious units of Metric System are related
to each other.
1 meter (m) = 100 centimeter (cm)
1 decimeter (dm) = 10 centimeter (cm)
1 meter (m) = 10 decimeter (dm)
1 kilometer (km) = 1,000 meter (m)

Tools used for measuring length
For measuring small distances in centimeters, centimeter scale is used.
For measuring larger distances in meters, meter stick or measuring tape is used.

Meter or Kilometer? Kilometer is larger unit than meter.
For measuring larger distances like length of the road, kilometer is used.
For measuring small distances like length of the room or door meter is used.

Important Tips
To convert meter to kilometers, divide with 1,000.
Example – 50 meters = 50/1,000 = 0.050 Km
To convert kilometers to meters, multiply with 1,000
Example – 2 Km = 2 x 1,000 = 2,000 m
