Established in1895 as a free public library.

Currently governed by The Public Libraries Act,RSO, 1990.

Moved to present location in 1996 withFederal, Provincial and Municipal funding.

The library today is a gathering place for: Tutors and students, Leisure clubs -Chess, Scrabble, Bridge, Stamp

club Cultural groups and events

Annual Circulation = 280,953 items borrowed

Library Use in 2012 +1,000,000!

All of the Library’s programs are free of charge. presenters donate their time and expertise.

87% believe the library is forward thinking and tries new things.

65% believe that the library has improved in the last few years.◦ 34% believe that it is about the same.

7 % COMPUTERS/ INTERNET More workstations, more updated equipment & programs, more

computer classes, more time allowed.

6.8% LIBRARY SERVICES AND COLLECTIONS No charge for nonresidents, reduced library fines, increased

loan periods, more books, DVDs, CDs, eBooks.

5% PARKING Better parking, free parking.

5% REFRESHMENTS Vending machines, café, coffee etc.
