It is well known that the lens absorbs and scatters morelight with age.

Wavefront aberrometry has been utilised to refine corneal refractive surgery and has recently been adapted to quantify and analyse the aberrations induced by cataract.

Presbyopia correction with lens implants requires full presbyopia or close to it. Candidates are therefore in the age range in which they have some lenticular changes. The ability to isolate those aberrations originating in the crystalline lens may prove to be an important element in determining if a candidate for presbyopia correction is best categorized as a cataract patient or a refractive lens exchange patient.
