Spring is a time for renewal, new beginnings, and shaking things up. Well definitely do that here as we begin construction on what is sure to be an impressive and exciting new community area in the south wing of our facility. We hope youll join us in embracing the whirlwind of change as it takes us forward to a renovated facility thatll let us do so much more.

Weve taken care to make sure the programs previously running in the areas under construction, in the vast majority of cases, continue -- you might notice a few room changes for some classes. Take this chance to shake up your habits, your workout routine, and your comfort zone. Join in a group exercise or water fitness class, try out a CrossFit Workout of the Day, or step into a dance class. We think youll surprise yourself by what you can do.

Youll certainly see room changes for our Arts and Education programs, as were happily moved into our brand new center on the Lower Level. With a music room for music lessons, dedicated pottery studio, new multi-purpose space complete with kitchen, and more, were cooking up new classes and programs for kids and adults alike.

Throughout the spring, youll absolutely want to start planning for summer camp for the kids. With 50+ camps centered

around sports, swimming, gymnastics, high adventure, arts, and more, theres definitely something for every kid. Theyll build skills like teamwork and leadership while they get physically active, adding up to a healthier lifestyle and a brain-engaging summer. You can learn more and reserve your spot on our website.

While youre there, take a moment to reflect on what the Y means to you, and what it means to others. From exercise to education, CrossFit to camp, preschool to preventive health, and volleyball to volunteerism, the Y is so much more than a gym. Were a cause. Your generous support will continue to strengthen the community in which we live by providing access to the Y for all. Our annual campaign is currently underway: support it by donating today on our website.

We know youll benefit from all the effort you put into building a healthier life for yourself and your family, and we believe our building renovations will have the same positive impact in our community. We look forward to seeing a new and improved you at our new and improved Y!

Lets Shake Things Up for a Better You!

Ohio Reciprocal MembershipAnother great reason to belong to the YMCAWe want to encourage members to utilize the Y as often as they can. Sometimes, its more convenient for members to utilize a Y in a different location when traveling, near a workplace, or in another region.

How It WorksSimply present your active YMCA membership card and photo ID at any participating Ohio YMCA and enjoy free access.

  • MAKEOVER MADNESS

If youve been to our building recently, you have likely seen construc-tion vehicles around. Our members told us in no uncertain terms that Countryside YMCA needed to change; we listened. The Phase One Makeover Madness work is completed, and we are well underway on the Phase 2 work. Take a look at whats been accomplished, and join our excitement in the improvements still to come!

Check out all the exciting updates completed so far during Phase 2: The additional office space in our licensed childcare program is complete and ready for use

Our maintenance staff moved, and is now conveniently located near the North Entrance.

Renovations on the hallway above the racquetball courts are complete, and our office staff have moved into their new offices.

    Still to come:

Create new, expanded, and improved parking Add the Motion Zone, an active youth center for children ages 6 to 12

Add a quiet studio for yoga, Pilates, and similar programs

Update the Childrens Center child care facility with a new kitchen, playground, and classroom

Create a larger spin studio Significantly improve the caf and Prime Time areas Upgrade the resource center/Chapel Create a community gathering space with small group meeting capabilities

If at any time you have questions about our plans, please talk with one of our program directors or with Mike Carroll directly.

Were finishing up work in the new Child Watch space, and couldnt be more excited to start using it!

Our new Arts & Education center is now open on the Lower Level! Its ready to host classes and programs like cooking, painting, pottery, music lessons, and more!

Were expanding the free weight area in the CSC. The floor has been installed, and were preparing to install equipment and move in!

Work on the brand new North Entrance is buzzing along. Itll offer convenient, quick access to some of our most popular areas like the CSC, Child Watch, Stolle Center, and fitness studios.

The family gym has been updated with all-new equipment, and moved to its permanent home next to the soon-to-be-completed elevator.

Work is wrapping up on the new elevator in the racquetball court hallway. Itll make the indoor walking track that circles the gymnasiums much more accessible for all.

While we anxiously await our brand-new Motion Zone (an active youth center), the Computer Lab will be temporarily moved to the racquetball court hallway, next to the Family Gym.

We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Thats why, through the Y, millions of youth today are cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and educational achievement.

  • With a 150-year history of helping people learn to swim, the Ys swimming classes are designed to teach this lifelong skill to people of all ages and skill levels in a safe environment. Whether your child is learning to swim, developing skills, or seeking a competitive swim environment, Countryside YMCA offers a range of swim, dive and water adventure programs to nurture his or her needs. All classes are led by qualified, trained instructors.

All Y swim instructors are nationally certified and have a minimum of 40 hours of training, including: AED CPR First Aid Oxygen Administration

PROGRESSIVE SWIM LESSONSSwim lessons at Countryside YMCA help students learn the basics, improve skills, practice safety and rescue skills, and have fun. Lessons are progressive and class sizes are small so students get the personalized instruction they need to build vital skills and prepare for the next program level.

PREPARING FOR LESSONSNot sure which lesson is the best match for you or your child? Contact Karla Toye at 513 932 1424 ext 152 to schedule a free skill level assessment. Review these tips for what to expect, what to wear, and what to bring to YMCA Swim Lessons: Bring your membership card or photo ID. You dont need to be a full member of the Y to take swimming lessons,

but members receive a discount on lessons and classes. You can become a programs-only member called a Program Member.

Clothes, street shoes, diaper bags, and other personal items can be stored in the locker rooms; bring your own lock and leave your valuables at home.

Plan to arrive with enough time to change into swimming attire. Come to class dressed and ready for the pool:

A family-appropriate and clean swimsuit is required for all class and lesson participants.

Tight-fitting rubber or plastic pants with swim diaper are required for children who are not yet potty-trained.

Those who chill easily may benefit from a swim shirt or ear bands. Use caution while walking on the pool deck. Floor will be slippery

from the pool water. Goggles are permitted and preferred in the pool; masks and

snorkels are not (unless otherwise noted). Please bring a towel to class.

All class and lesson participants must shower with soap before entering the pool.

Participants should use the restroom before class; staff is not permitted to take students to the restroom.

All pools are heated. The Y is committed to keeping class and lesson sizes small so swimmers

get the expert personal attention they need to succeed. If you or your child has a fear of water, or have had a bad experience

with water, arrive at your class or lesson a little early to inform the instructor. Please let the instructor know of any information you think will help your child succeed.

Parents of children age six years and under must remain in the pool area during lessons.

The pool might be available to Y members before or after lessons for open swimming; check the pool schedule online for the most current information.

ACCOMMODATION PROCESSThe Y considers the individual needs of every person and the ability of the program to meet those needs. Please inform the Swim Lesson Coordinator before enrolling if you or a family member requires any special accommodation. This information enables the Y to better meet your needs or those of a family member, with available resources and to the extent reasonable. All staff that will be working with you or a family member with special needs will be informed of how to care for or meet those needs.

Learn a whole new dance in a few short minutes! Line dancing, move over - clogging is the next level of fun!
