Create a new documentCreate a new document

If you don't have Affinity Photo, you can buy it at https://servenomaster.com/affinity

The process is the same if you use Photoshop.

Create a new document that is 8.5x11inches at 300 DPI. Then add in 3/8 inch margin on the left sizeand 1/4 on the other four sides. We are going to only put coloring book pages on the right side of ourcoloring book, so the larger left side is where the book spine will be.

Find an image you want to modelFind an image you want to model

Right click on your image file and click "Open with Affinity Photo"

From the top menu click "Select" -> "Select All".

Then click "copy"

Switch back to your main coloring book page and click "paste"

Drag and move your image to keep it inside your main margins.



Add a New LayerAdd a New Layer

Ciick on the checkerboard icon below your layer list to create a new layer.



Outline your First ShapeOutline your First Shape

1. Select your new layer. It will be highlighted.

2. Select the draw tool.

3. Resize the line to your desired thickness. For this image, I'm using 2 pixels.

4. Select your color. I want to draw in black.

5. Outline your first shape. Here I outlined the central building.

Right click on the layer and choose "duplicate."

1. Select the LOWER of the duplicate layers. This is the layer in the background.

2. Select the paint bucket tool.

3. Push the color button so that the bucket will pour black.

4. Fill in your shape.

Right click on the image file and choose Open with Affinity Photo.

From the top menu click "Select" -> "Select All".

Drag the layer with the mandala on top of the layer you filled in with the paint can earlier. Notice howthe layer is slightly to the right of the other layers - this means it's now a sublayer of the layer above it.

As you move the mandala around, it's now ONLY inside the building shape. You can move and tweakuntil you are happy with the look.

The black outline around the shape is from the duplicate layer we preserved earlier.

Uncheck the background layer to make it disappear.



Your First Coloring Book Image is CompleteYour First Coloring Book Image is Complete

You now have the first part of your coloring book page. Fill in more sections and add more shapes untilyou are satisfied with your competed coloring book page.

When we format the book, we will use PDF pages. Make sure you use the preset shown below. This isthe color setting KDP Pring prefers.
