Definition “Generally refers to a new form of literacy made
possible by digital technology” (Wikipedia).
New literacies are used in today’s classrooms and benefit the entire learning environment for students of all age groups.
This includes media that has evolved over the last decade.

Television, besides uses for entertainment, can be used as a way to convey educational information with educational channels such as: The National Geographic The Discovery Channel The History Channel
These channels offer a variety of shows such as: Documentaries on historical
events Geological information How stuff works/are made Etc.
Internet
The Internet is one of the most useful tools in this day and age.
Teachers can utilize the Internet in many ways Research Educational videos
(through websites such as YouTube)
Communication (Email) Helpful education
websites (such as PBS.org)
The Internet is an easy way for students to access information quickly.

Within today’s education system, clickers are starting to become popularized and utilized more often.

Skype is a web-based application that is used for video chatting.
Since online classes are becoming more mainstream, this literacy is very useful for communication within these classes.
