Place baskets, copies of letters to Congress and pens at front of gathering space. Test videos. Place a Bible and a copy of the solidarity vigil at the podium or lectern. Prepare cantor to lead “Canticle of the Sun,” OCP. Prepare one leader and 6 readers. Give each reader copy of this solidarity vigil with their part highlighted. Invite and prepare three participants to bring the symbolic objects up to the table at the appropriate time. Prepare someone to cue the PowerPoint presentation and play the videos. Prepare the letters to your members of Congress. Choose from one of the following two options:

CUEPOWERPOINTSLIDE1.WelcomeandopeningprayerLEADER:InthenameoftheFather,andoftheSon,andoftheHolySpirit….Today,wegathertoprayinthanksgivingforthegoodnessofcreation.Wejoinourvoicesandsay,asSt.FrancisofAssisididinhisCanticleoftheSun,andPopeFrancisechoedinhisencyclicalontheenvironment:“Praisedbeyou,OLord,forthebeautyandgoodnessofthecreatedworld!”WethankGodforthegiftofcreationandshowourappreciationforthisgiftbycaringforit.Wealsojointogetherbecausewerealizethatattimeswehavenotdonethebestjobofstewardingthisgift.Andthisaffectsthedaytodaylivesofmanypeoplearoundtheworld.Thepoorestandmostvulnerablepersons,whorelydirectlyoncreationfortheirfoodandwork,feelthismost.Wejoininsolidaritytodaytoprayforthesepeople,learntheirstories,understandhowclimatechangeaffectsthem,andacttotogethertocreateabetterworld.

ScripturereadingREADERONE:AreadingfromthebookofGenesis:ThenGodsaid:Letthewaterundertheskybegatheredintoasinglebasin,sothatthedrylandmayappear.Andsoithappened:thewaterundertheskywasgatheredintoitsbasin,andthedrylandappeared.Godcalledthedryland“earth,”andthebasinofwaterhecalled“sea.”Godsawthatitwasgood.ThenGodsaid:Lettheearthbringforthvegetation:everykindofplantthatbearsseedandeverykindoffruittreeonearththatbearsfruitwithitsseedinit.Andsoithappened:theearthbroughtforthvegetation:everykindofplantthatbearsseedandeverykindoffruittreethatbearsfruitwithitsseedinit.Godsawthatitwasgood.(Genesis1:9-12)TheWordoftheLord.RESPONSE:ThanksbetoGod.
