TESCAN and Leica Microsystems invite you to a 1-day workshop on
Cryo-Scanning Electron Microscopyin Biological Sciences
Cryo-scanning electron microscopy (Cryo-SEM) has become an established technique for capturing and observing biological samples close to their natural state. It is a method of choice, where the traditional sample preparation (e.g. critical point drying) causes unwanted changes in the sample structure. A Cryo-SEM workflow typically involves freezing of the sample using high pressure freezing. This step creates a time snapshot of the cellular processes with minimum artifacts. Frozen samples are then transferred to a cryo sputter coater, where they are coated with a conductive layer of metals or carbon. Finally, the samples are inserted into a SEM chamber equipped with a cryo-stage and observed under high vacuum conditions.
This introductory workshop will cover all parts of the whole process, from the sample preparation to the image capture. New users can get familiar with the cryoSEM technology, while the experienced users can discuss their applications with the company representatives.
You have two opportunities to attend the workshop. You can visit the workshop on:
