The Center for Service-Learning and Community Engagement (CSCE) man-ages the corporate social responsibility initiatives of Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL). The mandate is to help fulfill MCL’s mission of contributing to the solution of industry’s and society’s problems by the expert application of knowledge. This could be achieved by providing a platform for integrated learning opportunities for MCL students, ad-ministrators, faculty members, staff, and related stakeholders to foster excellence and virtue in community service. Ultimately, the goal is to continuously facilitate ser-vice-learning and community engagement initiatives through conscious and sustain-able efforts inspired by the spirit of volunteerism and a strong commitment to service and development.

In an effort to promote sustainability, the institution utilizes available knowledge and resources that would promote productive collaboration and partnership among stakeholders. This school year, previous efforts were strengthened and part-nerships were forged in order to ensure the delivery of quality service. As MCL and CSCE continue to work with specific communities, effective and efficient allocation of resources, time, and effort are assured.

In the course of one school year, over 10,000 beneficiaries in different communities around Pangil, Laguna and other partner communities have been reached through Project ECHO and other community service initiatives. MCL continues to CON-NECT with COMMUNITIES through building a shared sense of responsibility between and among the stakeholders involved. It is in the interest of the institution to contin-uously identify projects, programs, and other collaborative initiatives that would put forward excellence and virtue in community service.

MCL also takes pride in its learner-centered outcomes based approach that allows students as well as the entire MCL community to take part in activities that emphasizes the translation of theoretical learning into practical application with social relevance. It is indeed, a connection that bridges stakeholder efforts toward growth and development built on a heartfelt desire to serve and affect change. As such, MCL pushes forward to establish a foundation that is rooted upon collaboration and well-meaning efforts that would exemplify MCL’s commitment to CONNECT with COMMUNITIES and

continue without ceasing until objectives are met. 2
