Business ContinuityHow would your business be affected if your communications assets failed? According to a study by the Hartford Financial Services Group, 43% of businesses that experience a disaster and have no emergency plan, never reopen. Your business needs a Business Continuity Plan.

If you house your phone system at your location through a Private Branch Exchange (PBX), a localized event (power outage, connection cut, weather event, etc.) can render the PBX incapacitated.

Hosted PBX from Revere Systems helps you plan Business Continuity more effectively. With hosted PBX, all call processing and intelligence resides in the Revere network, not on your business site. In the event of a localized outage, hosted PBX continues to operate and process calls.

In an outage, the failure is instantly recognized by the hosted PBX platform and calls are re-routed immediately to alternate numbers or to a separate facility.

Implementing a Business Continuity solution requires proper design and equipment selection to ensure maximum benefit. In addition to hosted PBX, Revere offers a full range ofconsulting and design services and products to maximize your protection against the unexpected.

Revere Systems is a division of the long-standing American Broadband and Telecommunications company. But we deliver a new, highly anticipated approach to IT business solutions; one that we know local companies have been clamoring for!

With Revere, you don’t invest in expensive on-site equipment. Instead, you get a tremendous variety of calling features and automatic technology upgrades in a cloud-based solution. The Accession unified communications client easily enables integration with most CRM platforms including Google, Salesforce, Sugar and WebEx.

Using Accession, the caller ID or name of an incoming call is a searchable element in a CRM platform. This search happens immediately, so sales or support can instantly see who is calling and view their account information. For making outbound calls, most CRM platforms have click-to-dial functionality that can be integrated with Accession. Learn how Accession can help boost your team’s productivity.

VoIP service providers offer a range of products to meet the needs of Small and MediumBusinesses (SMBs). Unfortunately, there has been very little practical guidance for SMBs wishing to upgrade their phone systems to VoIP solutions.

It’s a challenge for a SMB owner to evaluate products and make smart business choices. Where do you start? Here we’ll explain the concept of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and how it can be used to compare the economic benefits of VoIP to your business.

Calculating Total Cost of Ownership for VoIPThe correct way to evaluate competing systems, both VoIP and traditional, is to calculate and compare the TCO of each solution. The concept of TCO is not new; it has been used by information technology professionals for years to compare the economic consequences of a major equipment purchase. They use TCO to sum up all costs – purchase, use, maintenance, one-time, recurring – over a set period of time.

TCO = (Acquisition Costs) + (Monthly Recurring Costs) + (Annual Maintenance Costs).

Let’s look at each element separately.

Acquisition Costs An acquisition cost is any cost that is paid up front. They’re more than just equipment purchases. They include system installation and employee training. Remember that with VoIP, voice and data are carried over the same connection so there are usually charges related to the provisioning of that connection. “What do I need to write a check for up front to make the switch?”

Monthly Recurring Costs Monthly recurring costs cover both voice and data service and can take different forms. Regardless of how the service provider constructs the charges, it’s easy to get to Monthly Recurring Charges by asking your prospective vendor, “What do I need to write a check for every month for my voice and data service?”

Annual Maintenance CostsAnnual maintenance costs have been a given in hardware or software purchases for years. Companies often charge 10-20% of the purchase cost of these products each year to guarantee technical support and product updates. With a Hosted IP PBX (or Hosted Voice) solution, there are no annual maintenance costs. Ask your vendor, “What do I need to write a check for at the end of each contract year to maintain my voice and data service?”
