Page 14: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

When on a small keyboard, where no separate Accountant’s Number Pad is present, the NumLock (Sometimes, NumLck) key turns on and off the special keyboard slightly to the right of center.

Page 17: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

Definitions:Internet: The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, of local to global scope, that are linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking technologies.

Page 18: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

Definitions:Wi-Fi: Wireless Fidelity: a mechanism for wirelessly connecting electronic devices.

Page 19: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

Wi-fi should not be confused with Bluetooth.

Bluetooth: Bluetooth is a proprietary open wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances (using short wavelength radio transmissions in the ISM band from 2400-2480 MHz) from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks (PANs) with high levels of security.

Page 21: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

When you use your iPhone or Android or any other smart phone, if you don’t connect to a wi-fi, then you are connected to the cell tower and you get online through it.

I have been using the SAME email address for years when I shared it with my wife. I would now like to use a NEW email address. Is there any easy way to automate notifying members of my contact list about a change of my email address?

Page 31: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

You could use a special program like “TrueSwitch” which will back up your contacts and other personal data from your old email and transfer it to your new. You can also use TrueSwitch to send out notification emails.

Page 32: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

You could send an email from your OLD account, using the BCC: feature, to everyone in your address book with whom you want to share your new address. In the email, simply share your new address and ask them to change their address book.

Page 33: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

Remember: if you get email from companies, you probably need to change your address manually using their procedures. Sending them an email using BCC: with your other contacts probably won’t work.

How do I upload pictures from camera?

Page 37: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

If you mean: how do I transfer pictures from my camera to my computer:

The Microsoft Answer – It depends!

Page 38: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

You can transfer pictures from some cameras by using a USB cord – usually a micro cord – that connects from the camera to the computer.

Page 39: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

If your camera has a memory card and your computer has a memory card reader, you can put the card in the computer and transfer the pictures that way.

Why does my online banking site sometimes allow me to copy/paste my password and other times I have to manually type it in? It ALWAYS allows me to copy/paste my user name. Bank tech support could NOT answer the question.

Page 41: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

In truth, you should NEVER be able to paste your password into the log-in field. As to why you are able to copy and paste your password sometimes, that is one of those mysteries that exist in the virtual world, the answer may elude us for a lifetime.

How much of a difference in speed should I notice on MY wi-fi network if I go to an N router?

Page 47: Customer Choice Presented by Keystone Computer Concepts

It depends on a number of factors: your Internet speed when attached with an Ethernet cable, for one.

Still, in going from a G router to an N, there should be a noticeable improvement in your wireless speed.
