1. SAVINGS – time, manpower and money

! Approximately 15% of shoes returned for reline get scrapped but this can be as high as 40% !

All this = time and manpower = E£E£E

Every brake shoe kit frees up one worker for approximately 30 minutes so just imagine the annual savings youcan make by converting your fast moving trailer references from in house reline to Meritor brake shoe kits.

We take away all the of the relining operations including collection, inspection, stripping, cleaning, painting andriveting.

Put new lined shoes into a box add the correct hardware.

Meritor Brake Shoe Kits bring you . . . . . .2. SAFETY – optimised braking performance and enhanced brake lining security

All of the components within the brake assembly work together, therefore it is important that they are also replaced together.

Brake Lining – General description and specification

Meritor 405AF is an asbestos free brake lining materialwith metallic inclusions and friction modifiers. It isprimarily designed to provide safe and secure heavyvehicle braking. The material is particularly resistant towear and has a relatively high density. Meritor 405AFalso has excellent thermal properties and remains stable inoperating coefficient across a wide temperature range.

Meritor 405AF has been specifically developed and tested for S camtrailer brakes, working in the most demanding of operatingenvironments.

Meritor 405AF has also been tested and approved to UNECER90 byone of Europe’s leading testing facilities and carries the prestigious E4designation.

Brake Return Spring

The brake return spring is a very important component and servesmany functions within the brake

• It holds the shoes in the “off” position

• It determines the threshold pressure

• It returns the brake shoes to the “off” positionwhen the brakes are released

Weak brake return springs can cause

• Brake drag – overheating• Brake imbalance• Tractor/trailer imbalance – predominance

THE RESULT:

Fitting new lined brake shoes and associatedcomponents on both ends of the axle ensures thatboth brakes operate at the optimum efficiencyresulting in improved initial performance, fasterbedding in, less damage to linings and drums due tolocalised heat and balanced output across the axle.

Brake Rollers

The brake roller transfers the rotationalmovement of the camshaft into linearmovement at the brake shoe tip. Brakerollers wear and become mis-shaped. NewS cam rollers ensure smooth operation andrelease of the brake. The shoes contained within the Meritorbrake shoes kits come with the rollersalready fitted to ensure correct fit andfunction.

Brake Shoe Retaining Springs

The brake shoe anchor springs ensure thatquick fit shoes remain firmly fixed to theanchor pin to prevent unwanted movementof the brake shoe.

No risk of cracked or weakenedwelds. No distortion of the shoewebs.

No corrosion or distortion to theshoe platform means that thebrake lining to shoe match isoptimised providing greaterlining security and less noiseresonation.

No wear to the cam rollerrecess ensures perfect fitmentof the cam roller resulting insmooth operation and releaseof the brake.

No damage, elongation orovality of the rivet hole reducesthe risk of loose rivets due tobad fit in the hole.

No wear to the anchor pinrecess prevents lateralmovement of the shoe duringbreaking resulting in smootheroperation and reduced risk ofbrake judder or brake lock. The threshold pressure is the air pressure required to overcome the resistance within the brake and bring the brake linings into

contact with the brake drum. It is important that the threshold pressure is equal across an axle to prevent brake imbalance
