The Way Out tells a modern story of a young Romani couple, Žaneta and David, the parents oflittle Sárinka. Their efforts to live a decent and dignified life run up against the "Romani socialtrap", which is racism, the society’s prejudices, exclusion from opportunities to obtain legal work, the lack of necessary qualifications, difficult communication with officials, debts and also themiserable existential conditions connected with the environment, lifestyle and traditional valuesof their ethnicity. David wants to protect his family, even at the expense of committing a crime. But Žaneta finds inner strength to defy the unfavourable situation in a different way. Will theyovercome the existential problems that start to take apart their relationship? Is it worthwhile forthem to continue to honour their own values and family traditions? And will their "way out" beonly another "escape" for them, or a promise to change their lives?

PRODUCER ON tHE MOVEtomáš Hrubý

Co-founded the Prague based production company nutprodukce in 2009– focusing ondiscovering new talents, themes and approaches to the European cinema and TV. He hasworked regularly with HBO on the documentaries Fortess and The Great Night as well as theacclaimed Burning Bush (2013), directed by the world-renowned director Agnieszka Holland, which won more than 11 national film awards, Czech Lions. He is currently workingon a TV-series for HBO called Wasteland. Tomáš co-produced the animated short Pandaswhich won a prize at Cannes’ Cinéfondation 2013.

At the moment, Tomáš is working on two interesting feature projects:

The first one – a drama Game Count is a continuation of his cooperation with AgnieszkaHolland. The film is based on the successful Polish novel by Olga Tokarczuk Drive your Ploughover the Bones of the Dead in which we witness the rising horror of a small settlement on thePolish|Czech border where several mysterious murders take place in rapid succession. The fearand horror from the murders is in contrast with the general disinterest that accompanies themass slaughter of wild animals during the hunting season that is currently underway.

Another project Silently Waiting is a director’s feature debut of Martin Krejčí. The film is basedon the life of Eva Olmerová, who is believed by many critics to be one of the most talentedEastern European jazz singers of all time. Like the music she sang, full of disharmonies, abruptchanges of rhythm and melodies, her life was a constant flux of emotions, events, unresolveddesires and personal tragedies. Living in the 1970’s Czechoslovakia meant a constant strugglebetween personal integrity and professional ambitions.
