Sammitha Says….

President’s Publication & Editor’s Note

Hey Key Clubbers,

I’d say this year is off to a great start! We had a great

beginning and things will only go uphill from now! Key club is

all about providing our members with opportunities to serve

our community, building character, and developing

leadership. So far we have had some interesting events, and

definitely stay tuned for more exciting socials, fun loving

events, and enthusiastic fundraisers! Make sure you contact

you designated class officers regarding any questions, and

they will get back to you shortly. Our car pool chairmen can

address any issues with rides and make sure you are able to

non-physical hours.

Participate in on-going fundraisers to get your non-physical

hours as well as upcoming socials! Meetings will be every

other Wednesday before and after school in the Teaching

Theater. Make sure you attend the events you signed up for.

Also make sure you find the officer in-charge of the event

and sign in with them too so you can get your hours. You must

attend all meetings in-order to remain a member. If you are

going to DCON GET EXCITED BECAUSE IT’S TIME TO GET READY!

We are already working on contests and projects to submit. If

you are willing to join us on this great journey make sure you

attend the informational meetings. At these meetings, your

parents will be given the necessary paperwork. Remember

that DCON is April 9-12 filled with leadership forums, officer

training, ice breakers, and many more fun topics! Have a

safe, service filled spring break!

Yours in Service,

Sammitha Cheruvu

Hey Cy Falls!

Every day that we get closer and closer to

DCON I get more and more excited! If you

wish to participate in a service contest

please don’t hesitate to let an officer know!

However, even if you aren’t going to DCON

you can still be more involved in our club!

Feel free to ask any questions, tell us your

concerns, and submit photos to any officer

on Facebook or email to

[email protected]. And of course

you can always ask our sponsor Ms. McMillian

in room 2606. Don’t forget to attend our

meetings every other Wednesday and all the

events you’ve signed up for! Enjoy you spring

break and may your days be filled with

service!

Yours in Service,

Matthew Stone

Graceful Grace Care

By Moselle Rodriguez 9, Freshman Representative

c

For a few consecutive weeks now, I’ve been

attending Grace Care every Friday. For those who

don’t know what Grace Care is, Grace Care is an

event where you go to a retirement home to speak

to really kind people and learn their stories and

experiences while helping them with anything they

may need. And since I’ve been going so often, I’ve

become familiar with the amazing people and their

great experiences. But out of all the people I’ve

met at Grace Care, one person has stood out to

me since day one, and she’s the kindest, most

graceful person I’ve ever met in my entire life, Ms.

Kapner. Ms. Kapner is an elderly woman who can’t

see or hear that well, so every time I go to Grace

Care she asks me to make a few phone calls for

her. Making phone calls seems like a simple,

everyday task, but to Ms. Kapner it’s quite the

opposite. To begin, Ms. Kapner asks me to find a

name, for example; Lila, in her phone folder. While

I’m looking for the name, she begins to tell me a

story about the person I’m looking through a folder

for. For every person the story is different, but for

every single person, she tells me the same phrase;

“Some people just always stay your story.” To be

honest, the first few times she said the phrase, I was

completely confused, but after a while, it’s become

a tradition and I’ve learned to understand this key

phrase. The stories she tells me go from the day she

got her first pair of roller skates, to the day she first

saw our Lone Star State, and they all involve a key

person or two.

3

The past times I’ve gone, Ms.

Kapner has asked me if I’ll be

back the next week, and I can’t

help but smile and say yes while I

think of the fact that the graceful

Ms. Kapner wants me to be a part

of her story, and that maybe one

day not only will she be sharing

that I was a part of her story, but

that I will also be sharing how she

was a part of my high school story.

Grace Care is my favorite event to

go to every month; not only

because of the things I get to do

while I’m there, but because of

the bonds I’ve formed there with

inspiring people, and the stories I’ll

get to tell about my key people in

the years left to come.
