THE MAZE AWAITSIt is 1951, and the Great War has been raging for 37 years.

Armed with powerful if il l-understood alien technology, the valiant forces of the Union struggle against thesupernatural power of the occult-obsessed Reich. Meanwhile, the Russian Matriarchys religious zealots march to war, accompanied by Slavic gods encased in robotic armor. In

this confl ict-torn world, each of the great powers strugglesto gain an advantage to use against its foes. Now, eachbelieves it has found that advantage, on a small island in theMediterranean.

Deep below the surface of the island of Crete lies the ancient, twisting maze of the Labyrinth of Minos. Built long ago, itscreators have long been lost to the mists of history, as hasall knowledge of the ancient evil that was once trapped in itsheart. It slept, forgotten to the outside world until now.

Working in Crete for the last three years, the renownedarcheologist Sir John Edward believes he has uncovered theentrance to the Labyrinths catacombs. Now, all three powers

send their most trusted special-operations units to Crete touncover the secrets of the Labyrinth of Minos!

In DAEDALUS, players are able to compete in anyTANNHUSER game mode on two exciting new maps: the

Labyrinth of Minos and the Outpost of Gvaudan. In addition, players gain access to the included scenarios, including abonus single player scenario: Bleeding is a Luxury.

DAEDALUS also includes rules for new circle types, additional equipment, and objective tokens for the charactersof the TANNHUSER universe. Also included are a few newtypes of tokens that allow players to face off against hordesof uncontrolled troopers, interact with new non-combatants,and even start fires!

The DAEDALUS map board is doublesided. One side depictsthe ancient and perilous Labyrinth of Minos, while the othershows the conflict-ridden Outpost of Gvaudan.

THE LABYRINTH OF MINOS MAPThis board features four entry points and three new circletypes: Precarious, One-way, and Moving Platform circles (seeNew Circle Types on page 3).

The four entry points make it possible to begin the game merefeet from an enemy, but impossible to see or attack him. A fewmeters deeper into the maze, however, things change, and every twist orturn can be fatal. Deadly guardians, fiendish traps, and sanity-shattering

artifacts are hidden within thiswarren of twisting corridors. Onlythe truly brave, or the truly foolish, dare enter these halls

OUTPOST OF GVAUDAN MAPThis board features two entry pointsand one new type of circle: theSniper circle (described below).

The town of Gvaudan has seenmore than its fair share ofatrocities. Now, a new conf lict has

descended upon the citizens of thisunfortunate place. Each faction issending elite personnel to securethis area. Exploiting the legendof the Beast is too much forany side to pass up. Originally ahunting lodge, this fortified area

has been upgraded with a chain-link fence, sniper roosts, and reinforced guard

quarters, as it now houses elements of the French Resistance.

NEW CIRCLE TYPESThe Labyrinth of Minos and Outpost of Gvaudan mapsintroduce the following new circle types:

PRECARIOUS CIRCLEThese circles are identified by the redfigure icon in their center. No charactermay end his movement in a Precariouscircle, but he may freely move throughit with no penalty. Movement is treatednormally. Additionally, no tokens maybe placed in one of these circles, and nofigure may be forced into these circles.

ONE-WAY CIRCLEThese circles are identified by the greenarrows in their center. The arrowsindicate the only direction of travel orattack permitted through the circle.

One-way circles represent a significantchange in elevation. Characters mayonly move out of a One-way circle in thedirection indicated by the arrow.

SNIPER CIRCLEThese circles are identified by the Snipericon in their center. Sniper circles may befound on the Outpost of Gvaudan map.

Any figure standing in a Sniper circle maytarget any figure standing in a circle thatalso has the same colored Sniper icon.Grenades thrown from a Sniper circle may (if thrown usingthe icon) only land in the targeted circle.

For example, a character standing in the Sniper circledepicted could target any other character in a circle that hasa yellow Sniper icon in addition to characters on his path.

MOVING PLATFORM CIRCLEDaedalus, a noted Greek craftsmanand inventor, created this ingenioussystem of moving platforms to facilitatethe construction of his labyrinth. Thismachinery is strange and complex, especially considering its antiquity.Moving platforms allow for rapid transitfrom one side of the labyrinth to the other.Despite its age, this system functions like new.

No character may enter or move through a Platform circle, unless using the Platform token as described below.

PLATFORM TOKEN SETUPAt the start of the game, the platforms are considereddeactivated. The Platform token is not placed on the board.

CALLING THE PLATFORMA character may call the platform by spending his Actionwhile located on any circle adjacent to a Platform circle.

Place the Platform token on the Platform circle. Thecharacter may then continue with his activation normally.

RIDING THE PLATFORMAny character adjacent to aPlatform token may ride theplatform to the other side of theLabyrinth.

Riding the platform does not requirean Action and costs no Movement. To

indicate riding the platform, move thecharacter to any circle adjacent to thePlatform circle on the opposite side of the map. Then, place thePlatform token in the Platform circle adjacent to the characterthat was moved. The character may then continue with hisactivation normally.

SCENARIOS ANDCAMPAIGNSThe scenarios in this rulebook may be played as normalor played as a campaign. A campaign consists of playingmultiple scenarios in a specific order.

There are two campaigns in Daedalus. The first, The Son ofMinos, begins with Scenario A on page 6. The second campaign,The Beast, starts with Scenario E on page 10.

If playing a campaign, the following rules apply in addition tothe rules for story mode:

Each player chooses a faction and the Heroes andTroopers he wishes to use at the start of the campaign. These selections may not be changed for the duration ofthe campaign.

At the beginning of each new scenario in the campaign, each character is brought back to full health (even if he or

she had previously been killed). Each scenario has a section labeled Campaign Conditions.

At the end of the scenario, this section is resolved for theside who fulfilled his victory condition. For example, if theReich won the scenario, then players would resolve theReich section of Campaign Conditions.

Any equipment expended during a scenario is notrefreshed at the start of the next scenario. Charactersmay not choose a new pack at the start of a new scenario.

NEW TOKENSThis section describes all new tokens and how they functionin the game. Revenant tokens, Trooper tokens, Peasanttokens, and Fire tokens are special tokens that only haveeffects in their specific scenarios (see pages 6 14).

    REVENANTS/TROOPERS/PEASANTS

There are 12 Revenant/Trooper tokens and 6 Peasanttokens in this expansion. These tokens move about the boardautomatically, and some can even attack players.

    REVENANTS

Revenants are the guardians of theLabyrinth of Minos. Built by Daedalushimself, these constructs shambleabout the maze looking to eliminate anyintruders before they can plunder thetwisting pathways of artifacts. Beware, these creatures are deadly meleefighters. Engage only from a distance!See the scenario I am a Revenanton page 7 for more information onRevenant tokens.

    TROOPERS

Security is a concern for every factionin the Great War. As such, a great dealof money is spent training forces toguard locations, items, and prisoners. The troopers tasked with preventingunwarranted intrusions are oftenarmed with deadly weaponry and hair

triggers. See the scenario Bleedingis a Luxury on page 14 for moreinformation on Trooper tokens.

    PEASANTS

When giants fight, the grass gets trampled. Ancient proverb

The ultimate goal of this war is to defend those who cannotdefend themselves. Sometimes the warspills into the lives of these people. ThePeasant tokens represent the civiliansa strike force may encounter in the

field. More information on Peasanttokens may be found on page 12.

FIRE TOKENSThese tokens are used in Self Destructive Pattern on page11, and use the following rules:

Any character that completes anobjective (as per the objective rulesfound on page 30 of the core rulebook),may move up to four circles withoutspending any movement points. Afterthis movement, the fire has been

successfully started. Place two Firetokens on any movement circle adjacent to the completedobjective. In each refresh tokens step, remove one Firetoken from this stack.

Each time a character enters a circle on the same path as aFire token, he suffers three automatic attack successes.

CRATE TOKENSThe Crate tokens foundin DAEDALUSreplace those found in both TANNHUSERbase game and OPERATION: NOVGOROD.

SECRET DOOR TOKENSThe Secret Door tokens found inDAEDALUS use the rules found on page 35of the TANNHUSER rulebook.
