an honest-to-goodness design affair

jenny gumbertI’m sure you can commiserate in my humiliation over my inability to achieve my New Year’s resolutions every year. It’s gotten to the point where I ques-tion why I continue to make them, and why, for that matter, we all do? I mean, how did this all get started anyhow? Like many others, I’ve always been fond of the idea of a new year being a clean slate. We all make mistakes and sometimes it’s nice to pretend that

we have a magical “reset” button that makes all of our troubles go away, as trivial as some of them may be. With that in mind, I can’t help but make an-other set of resolutions for 2013, and I welcome you to too. This wall decal by Shanna Murray is the inspiration be-hind my number one resolution for the new year; I will try new things, no mat-ter how scary they may seem.

1. 2013 Prisms Calender by Julia Kostreva, $33 - Do More: My hope for the new year is to try so many new things that this calendar will be jam-packed with activity.

2. Tie Dye Yoga Mat from Gaiam, $17.58 - Exercise More: I’ve been known to be (super) lazy, especially when it comes to getting my gym on. A pretty new mat might be just the motivation I need to get myself to that 7 a.m. yoga class.

3. Vanderbilt Blue Crackle Table Lamp from Pure Home, $450 - Read More: After getting my degree in literature, I was a bit tired of reading. It’s time to get myself buried in books once again.

4. Round French Oven by Le Creuset, $335 - Cook More: I love to cook, but don’t usually (did I mention that I’m lazy?), but investing in a gorgeous piece of cookware may just be what I need to get me back in the kitchen.
