White Elephants

December is a joyous time full of par-ties, food, presents and general merri-ment. Sounds great right? Well it starts out that way and then suddenly the barrage of invitations for various fetes come in and you become exhausted with the prospect of attending all of these soirees. It all sounds like fun un-til you realize all of the outfits that you have to pick out, the food you have to make (or buy at the grocery and

pretend that you made), and most dif-ficult of all, all of the random gifts you must purchase. Those White Elephant and Secret Santa parties always pose a serious quandary: what am I sup-posed to buy for people that I barely know? I have a few suggestions that will not only serve as the perfect gift for any lad or lady, but are also under $50. You’re welcome.

Gift Guide:

1. Mojito Soap Set by Malin + Goetz, $30 - This sampling of soap smells even better than the simple packaging looks.

2. Mini Wooden Speaker from Uncommon Goods, $32 - The gadget-ob-sessed will love this portable speaker.

3. You Pay Bottle Opener from Spartan, $26 - Everybody likes beer. Every-body.

4. Meritage Coffee from Cuvée Coffee Roasters, starting at $12.25 - If none of your friends like coffee, then you are friends with the wrong people.

5. Japanese Copper Graters from Poketo, $40 each - Simultaneously sleek, adorable and functional.
