    A) My general impression of the dance concert was that it was okay; however, I would not

watch it again. The plays genre was expressive dance. It fits in with other productions

we have seen because it contributes to the variety; it helps show the diversity of

different productions that exist. The theatre was medium sized. The

audience/performer relationship was a bit distant for most of the play, except at the

    few comedic parts.

    B) The director created a very dreamlike reality- a reality where the only language is

movement which turns into dance. It was lifelike in the sense that in real life people also

use movement to express themselves. I felt the different elements or themes fit

together in for each act separately, but not together. The dancers moved everywhere

on stage; no place was forbidden to go. This is my own opinion of course, but I felt that

the pace of the show slowed then speed up at certain points.

    C) Some actors where believable. If they werent, it wasnt because of how they danced,

but what they were wearing. I distinctly remember the woman mourning the death of

her daughter. It didnt seem real to me, and I think that could be the case either because

of her costume or the way she moved. It may even be both. The performers worked

together as a company in the fact that they moved in unison-not perfectly, but still in

unison. But I felt that some of the performers didnt match up to the level of proficiency

of their fellow dancers, and this made it seem like some of the performers stood out.

    D) The set supported the efforts of everyone on stage, and kept with the other elements.

The changing of location was very good, and easily, being that there was nothing to

    move.

    E) The style of each costume for each different act and section matched each other for the

most part, except when it was necessary to differentiate.

    F) The lighting definity enhanced the performers dancing and the costumes. I could see

the important characters and noticed the primary dancers were in the spot light when

    they needed to be.

    G) The major characters in the second act were the mother and daughter, and the

daughters two friends. The daughter wanted to be like the other girls and be rid of her

mother s tradition, while her mom wanted her to keep tradition and be like her. The

mom s world view changed because after her daughters death, she began to be more

open to what her daughter had wanted and came to accept her daughter s friends. My

favorite character was the daughter s friends and at first my least favorite character was

    the mother.

    H) The meaning of the production was to show emotion; to show what the dancer was

    feeling as she/he danced.

    I) The artists were trying to express the pain and hurt that accompanies suicide; as well as

the other themes in the concert that were played out by the songs accompanying the

dances. The expression of the emotion could be felt at times, but for the majority of the

time, I felt some of the dancers could have done better in the dance technique used.

Nonetheless, it was still worth the doing.
