Our Experience – Airlines Price Prediction Algorithm

Approach: AltexSoft’s Data Science team was given a challenging task, to create an algorithm thatpredicts whether airline prices will go up or down over the next seven days. This is a Time Seriesforecasting problem.
After researching the problem, data analysis and a lot of experiments, the team came up with analgorithm that uses ARIMA for forecasting. Along with several additional data filtering, mungingtechnics, and ensemble voting, it gave a correct prediction for up to 85% cases based on validationtesting.

Our Experience – Sound Recognition for Healthcare

Approach: The main goal of this algorithm was to detect the target sounds in the nightly recordingof a person sleeping via iPhone or an Android smartphone.
The input data is a sound recording, which means that Digital Signal Processing has to be used toconvert the digital signal into data that can be processed by the algorithm. The main challenge in thisprocess was the correct algorithm of the candidate events extraction. In order to classify theextracted candidate events on true or false signals, several learning algorithms were tested. Theselearning algorithms were taught using a specially created dataset.
