SEEDS SONG

In the spring we prepare the soil in which we will plant the seeds for our garden. These seeds we are planting corn, beans, squash are our gifts given to us for suste-nance. As Ukwehu:wene people we are also grateful and give thanks. This speech and song can be used before we plant. The song can also be song while keeping the garden clean and we watch the plants grow.

Words to say before singing the seed song:

Né: ka’i:kʌ wahnislate This day

O’skʌnʌ kanuhtunyuhe’ I am in a peaceful mind.

O:nʌ tʌ yetiwʌnu kote tyunhekwʌ Now we will use song and words for life.

Né: watekenʌhelate tyunhekwʌ Thank them. I give thanks to life sustenance

Khale’ kato:kʌ nayoti’nikuhlo’tuhake’ And their mind will continue in that way.

Ohutu: wa’ukwatʌhnislatenyuti In front in future days ahead.

Tané:to nʌyutuhake ukwanikula Now there is how it shall be our mind
