DEALING WITH ETHICAL DILEMMAS 10th February 2018
FLAME was founded with the concept of liberal education as its cornerstone. FLAME celebrates ideas, cherishes diversity, and strives to deliver an academic experience that fosters intellectual curiosity, a critical thought process, self-reflection, leadership and teamwork skills, a sense of commitment and professionalism and a heightened sensitivity to one’s sociocultural environment. FLAME aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform of education by propagating different models and paradigms through, but not limited to, history, philosophy, political sciences, psychology, business, economics, mathematics and finance.
ABOUT FLAME UNIVERSITY
As part of its endeavor to constantly redefine education, FLAME inducted the FLAME Investment Lab (FIL), an initiative that strives to deliver the concepts and decipher the art of value investing to interested students. FIL believes in the dictum “invest in yourself”. It provides tools for self-learning and acquiring knowledge, constantly striving for intellectual stimulation and asking questions. FIL strives to widen your horizons, aiding you to connect the dots within seemingly disparate information. FIL truly believes that the best investment is investing in yourself. As Socrates has said, “I cannot teach anybody anything. I can only make them think.”

PROGRAM DETAILS
Date & Time Saturday, 10th February 2018 | 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
FLAME University and CFA Society India (IAIP), invites you to a Workshop on “Dealing with Ethical Dilemmas and Ethical Decision Making in the Investment Industry” with Ms. Sonia Gandhi – Director, CFA Society India
Being able to work successfully with ambiguity is increasingly cited as a critical skill in modern workplaces. Ambiguity presents numerous challenges, among them the ability to identify reliable principles to base decision making on, and the ability to apply a process through which to systematically evaluate options for action.
Ethical dilemmas are a form of workplace ambiguity, readily generated by the competing priorities in finance and investment businesses. It is a common misperception that unethical action is an uncommon occurrence, performed by already bad people. On the contrary, ethical dilemmas are entirely commonplace occurrences, and often result in perfectly good people deciding to do questionable things.
Sonia Gandhi, CFA would be conducting a case based workshop, which will broadly have 3 goals:• Encourage you to become more conscious about your thoughts and behaviors so that you are more
likely to notice, and act upon ethical issues before they become a problem• To recognize that ethical dilemmas are a normal and predictable part of most jobs• To discuss and practice approaches for dealing with ethical issues
