HELLOWhich song stirs your heart? You can sit and think or even play the song in your head as that broad smile spreads across your face. Maybe it makes you think of a loved one or a signicant event. Music inspires us to believe, to love, to do something perhaps beyond our normal self. This Christmas at Gaia Cosmo we want to be an advocate for love and peace through music. With ourselves, with one another and with our environment.

Therefore on Christmas, we will have a live performance by a youth’s choir and orchestra, Nafs-i-gira Music, as the highlight, bringing a message of love and peace to everyone. Let the music remind us again that indeed love overcomes differenc-es. Along with this live performance, the restaurant Gaia Semeja Asian Kitchen will be serving a special Christmas Dinner Set menu available from 6 - 10 pm.

Come New Year’s Eve, we have prepared a dinner and entertainment programme as we draw the curtain down on year 2018 and cheer in 2019. The theme for the night is “Starlight”. The party is more fun with you in it. Come on down, dress up or dress down and celebrate this special moment of transition together.

We hope you will thoroughly enjoy the city and the hotel. Both our Gaia Semeja Asian Kitchen and Inspira Roasters cafe are open 24 hours. If there is anything you need assistance with, please feel free to call us at ext. 111. Last, but not least, sling on your shoulder our reusable shopping bag whenever you go out. That’s our love token for Yogyakarta.

PLACES TO VISIT

Fort Vredeburg MuseumA former colonial fortress built by a former Dutch governor in 1760. The military complex was converted into an Independence Struggle Museum back in 1992. Located in front of Gedung Agung and Kraton Yogyakarta, you can see collections of old photographs, historical objects and replicas, which include a stunning diorama portraying Indonesia's journey for indepen-dence, only 15 minutes drive from our hotel.

Address and Opening Hours :Jl. Margo Mulyo No.6, Ngupasan, Gondomanan, YogyakartaTuesday-Sunday, 07.30 am - 04.00 pm (Closed on Monday)

Nglambor BeachA favourite Instagram hotspot, Nglambor Beach is place for the whole family to enjoy the natural beauty of Yogyakarta. Clear blue waters allow for some relaxing snorkeling but just check ahead for tidal patterns to make sure your visit will not be troubled by so rough waves. The 2 hour drive from the hotel sounds daunting, but we'd say it is well worth it.

Address:Pantai, Purwodadi, Tepus, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta

Breksi Cliff ParkOnce a mining site, Breksi Cliff is now a unique tourist destina-tion famous for the photogenic scenery it offers. You can encoy the view of Yogyakarta and the temples nearby from the top of the rock. The best time to go is in the morning. If you are planning an afternoon visit, do prepare a bottle of water, sunnies, and hat. With only 35 minutes drive from our hotel, take a break from touring the city for a couple of hours and take plenty of beautiful photos.

Address and Opening Hours :Sambirejo, Sleman District, Special Region of YogyakartaMonday - Sunday, 06.00 am - 09.00 pm

Panguk Kediwung HillLooking for a stunning view of sunrise for your insta-photos? Panguk Kediwung Hill is the place to go. Many have said the hill area is like a completely different country above the clouds. Beside your camera, do bring a jacket (because of the morning cool air) and sunnies. We’d say the 60 minutes drive is well worth it. Address:Kediwung, Mangunan, Dlingo, Bantul, Special Region ofYogyakarta

Twin Beringin Trees Located in the backyard of the King’s Palace, the Twin Beringin (Banyan) Trees are believed to hold mystical powers to keep perils off the Palace. The local myth also has it that only those of a pure heart can pass through in between the two banyan trees blindfolded - many have tried and failed. Would you give it a try? Located just to the south of Yogyakarta’s town square 20 minutes away from the hotel, the area surrounding the trees can be quite peaceful and leisurely, and is a good spot for a picnic.
