The north of Cordoba is synonymof tradition and shows proudly in every town and spotthe traces left by history. The first stage of that tour starts in Jesus Maria, exactly 50 kilometresto the north of Cordoba. These 50 years of“colour and courage”will have in 2015 the special addition of twomore nights to the traditional10 ones.

The gaucha festivity will take place between 8th and 19th January and it promises 12 days ofstrong emotions. But while we get ready for the schedule towards that creole festivity, the

Festival can start to be felt from inside. Those who tour Jesus Maria have the doors open to goon guided visits at Jose Hernandez Amphitheater and thus being able to get into the history ofthis solitary event, that is realized for the benefit of 20 school fund-raising associations ofJesus Mari and its surroundings. The visits are available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Tuesdaysto Sundays. These include a stop at the “hitching post room”, that reproduces the three postswhere the break in starts in the field. It is the opportunity to ride a prop horse and feel, at leastfor a moment, the adrenaline of a horseman in action.

Un salmón rosado con células de cítricos y brotes; panzotti dequeso azul y espuma de oporto; merengue de chimichurri;panqueque relleno de frutos rojos con helado ahumado dealbahaca o helado de fernet con Coca; son algunos de losextravagantes y sofisticados platos posibles en manos del chefcordobés que propone técnicas de laboratorio para crearexperimentos con delicioso sabor. La Cumbrecita, primer pueblo peatonal de la Argentina, esta ubicado alpie de las sierras grandes de la provincia de Córdoba. Esta apacible localidad ubicada al pie del CerroUritorco, a 100 Km. de la ciudad de Córdoba,cambió para siempre su fisonomía el 9 de enero de1986. Aquel día, el pueblo amaneció convulsionadopor la presencia de una huella circular en la laderadel Cerro El Pajarillo.

Dos habitantes del paraje, el niño Gabriel Gómezde 11 años y su abuela, describieron con asombrosaprecisión cómo un objeto circular metálico se posóallí dejando una marca de pastizales quemados de100 metros de diámetro aproximadamente. Los originarios de estas latitudes ya tenían el conocimiento de la industriadel tejido, obteniendo la fibra del ganado existente en las sierras (Llamas yguanacos) Desde la época de la colonia se incorporaron como ganaderíaalternativa de altura el ovino del cual se aprovechó como alimento y laobtención de la lana, grandes estancias en la Pampa de Achala producían parael consumo y para exportación, familias tradicionales de generación engeneración fueron trasmitiendo el conocimiento del hilado, teñido en base avegetales y raíces y las distintas formas de tejer.El crecimiento de las grandes urbes y la sociedad de consumo hizo que muchoshijos y nietos se trasladen a las ciudades en busca de confort y/o una salidalaboral a punto de perderse el conocimiento; pero también, por suerte, se dioa la inversa gente que llegó de las grandes ciudades en busca de seguridad,salud y tranquilidad, tomaron clases con aquellas últimas abuelas que poseíanel conocimiento y la sabiduría, rescatando el trabajo como una herencia y hoyson los nuevos tejenderos de Traslasierra (Tejedores para el diccionario,tejenderos se los denomina en este lado de las sierras grandes).Hoy es uno de los productos turísticos más importantes y autóctonos de MinaClavero junto a la cerámica negra. Este ancestral trabajo se puede vivenciar ypresenciar en los hogares, donde además se ven las herramientas como loshusos, ruecas, telares y cacerolas de teñido. Una propuesta más a la hora deelegir este maravilloso destino natural.

Being about to get lost, the people from the big cities looking for health andpeace learnt from the remaining old ladies the knowledge and wisdom, getting the jobback as an inheritance and they are currently the new weavers of Traslasierra (Weavers forthe dictionary, tejenderos they are called in this part of the Sierras Grandes). At present, oneof the most important local and touristic products of Mina Clavero together with blackceramic. You can visit them in their homes and see their work, their spindles, spinningwheels, looms and dyeing pots.
