System guideour garments are divided into four different groups or “systems”. Each garment system has its own specific properties. Labeling our products this way makes it easy for our customers to understand how each garment is designed and thus find a product that will meet their particular needs.

What we know best – 100% waterproofness. Everything from the fabric, to the design, construction and details of the garment is made with our knowl-edge in how to create True water-proofness. All our products with SToRMsystem™ are made to withstand the harshest weather conditions and will keep you dry from the outside elements.

We use this in garments cre-ated to withstand wind and light rainfalls. The materials are highly breathable and comfort-able to wear. It manages light weather conditions, but should not be worn in heavier weather conditions.

Insulates your body to make sure you always have the right temperature. Worn separate as a second layer. In harsh weather preferably worn together with a protective shell that is 100% wind and waterproof.

Balances your body-temperature. You will always be dry and com-fortable with functional fabrics that rapidly wicks perspiration and moisture to the surface for quick evaporation and trans-portation.

Level guideFor a quick and easy overview our garments are categorized in four different levels. We talk about Dry Level, Heat Level, Function Level and Breathable Level. Depending on the garment system group the number of levels varies.

Breathable levelThe Breathable Level is achieved using waterproof and breathable fabrics. If a garment is using waterproof and breathable fabric but seams are not sealed this will result in a higher Level number then if it would have had sealed seams. As the seams will let air pass through.The other factor is the ability a waterproof fabric allows moisture vapor to be transported from the inside of the fabric to the outside. The Level number indicates how many kilograms that will pass through 1 m² during 24 hours. The breathability can be measured in many different testing methods, at Didriksons we use the one called ASTM E-96 BW STANDARD.It’s important to also look at the garments function level when you are looking for a garment to be used when you are active as ventilations etc. help you to keep a good microclimate inside your protective shell.

Heat levelThe Heat Level stands for the garments ability to protect you against low temperatures. A high level number has a better ability to isolate the heat and keep your body warm then a low level number. What effects the level is the garments insulation volume, if it´s waterproof and/or windproof and how much of your body the garment covers.

Dry levelThe Dry Level communicates the water column of the waterproof fabric and is only used in fully seam sealed Storm System garments. The Dry Level number is expressed in meters of water pressure the fabric can resist.

A Didriksons Dry 15^ fabric is a combination of a high water repellent base fabric and a lamination or coating with a minimum of 15.000 mm water resistance after 3 washes. Brushed surfaceThis finish on the fabric surface we use to get a softer and more comfortable gar-ment. It is important to know that a finish like this influences negatively on the fabrics water repellency. The water will stick easier and stay on the surface of the fabric compared to a unbrushed surface were the water easier roll off.

Chin guardTo avoid skin irritation from the sometimes rough zipper a chin guard protects you.

Combined pocket and ventilationTo keep a good micro-climate inside your protective shell you sometimes need to release unnecessary heat and avoid cooling condensation by letting external air pass through the inside of the garment. This garment has a pocketbag that lets air pass through, and gives you the option to keep it open and ventilate.

Detach beltThe belt is detachable. This gives you the choice of wearing the garment with or without belt.

Didriksons water repellent fabric finishPrevents rain from saturating the garment’s “face fabric”.To keep the fabric surface dry is important, as a wet fabric surface will make the garment heavy and reduce the breathability of the fabric. It has nothing to do with the actual waterproofness of the fabric but if there is no breathability this can cause condensation inside the garment and effect the inside comfort. WR fabrics finish lower the surface tension of the fabric. A WR fabric finish makes the surface hydrophobic, in other words it fabric surface repels the water.

Handle and careTo get a long lasting garment that stays waterproof and water resistant it is of high importance to treat it well and handle it with care.Here follows some easy advice:• Do not store a garment packed, wet or dry. This is to avoid permanent wrinkles that can demolish tape

and have a negative impact on the fabric performance. It is best stored on a hanger at room temperature without direct sunlight.

• Dirt and body oil, multiple laundering or abrasion will make the WR fabric finishes diminish.• If the rain drops stays on the garment, spreads out on the fabrics surface and the surface gets a darker

color the WR fabric finish needs to be re-activated or re-impregnated. • A dirty garment needs to be washed to get the WR fabric finish working. When washing, use a gentle

detergent, as it is gentler on the garment, particularly for the WR fabric finish. Avoid fabric softener as this can have a negative impact on the garment’s water resistance and can contribute to over-fertilization of our lakes. To re-activate the WR fabric finish the garment needs to be heat-treated after washing. This is done for example by ironing the garment on low, dry heat.

• Depending how durable the WR fabric finish is the water repellency might get deficient after some washes or after a lot of abrasion. Then it can be good to re-impregnate. We have no impregnation preparations that we recommend over another. In the most well-stocked sports and adventure stores, you can find suitable impregnation. In order to preserve our environment and even the clothes, do not wash unnecessarily!
