Terrain Categories
In accordance with DIN EN 1991-1-4 / NA: 2010: 12
Terrain category I
Open sea; free lakes with at least 5 km
surface wind direction; smooth, flat land
without barriers
Terrain category II
Terrain with hedges, individual farmsteads,houses or trees, for
example agricultural areas
Terrain category III
Suburbs, industrial or commercial areas,
forests
Terrain category IV
Urban areas in which at least 15% of the
surface is built with buildings whose
average height exceeds 15 m
Mixed profile coast
describes the conditions in a transition region between the
Terrain category I and II
Mixed profile inland
describes the conditions in a transition region between the
Terrain category II and III
