(CIMA ACCREDITED)LEVEL 4 HIGHER APPRENTICESHIP
DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS ACCOUNTING PRACTICE
BETTER BUSINESS STARTS WITH
APPRENTICES
So Higher Apprenticeships have been developed to combine both sets of attributes.
This Higher Apprenticeship is the perfect fit for any learner starting a career in Management Accounting and offers a mix of exam training and on the job skills development.
When they qualify, your learner will have:
a professional qualification and fully CIMA accredited qualification covering Management Accounting fundamentals
learnt core technical skills - applying employer methodologies and approaches to Management Accounting
demonstrated effective communication skills - including planning communications activities, writing clear and concise communications and presenting to different audiences
an appreciation of the importance of managing their own performance - including understanding the purpose of feedback, developing and using a learning plan and how to work as part of a team
developed wider business and commercial awareness skills - including setting up effective meetings, internal financial management and understanding a client’s needs
technical competence in their role and relevant work experience that can be applied in the workplace
Entry requirements
There are no specific entry requirements but learners should be in paid employment, working 30 hours plus per week, in a job role relevant to the Apprenticeship they want to take.
Of course, as an Employer, you can set your own entry requirements, if you want. The recommended standard is GCSE grade B in Maths and English and a minimum of 280 UCAS points or equivalent.
How the qualification is assessed
The qualifications are assessed through a mix of external computer based exams and work based assessment.
The exams are made up of key elements applicable to a Management Accounting-based role.
The core technical and business skills are assessed through work-based assessments demonstrated on the job by learners. We can also provide technical training using a combination of one-to-one assessor support and online learning to top up a learner’s knowledge and skills level if it’s needed.
We work with each learner to develop an individual learning plan identifying where and when evidence can be demonstrated.
This evidence is added to an e-portfolio system which is designed to track your learner’s progress throughout their qualification.
A formal progress review will be carried out, every 10-12 weeks, with you and your learner to check on their development, progress and to make sure the whole programme is a success.
Qualification overview and unit structure
Duration – As a guide you can expect most learners to take at least 12-18 months to complete the framework.
Qualification – When they qualify, your learner will be awarded a Diploma in Business Accounting Practice.
Learners will also receive the Higher Apprenticeship Certificate in Professional Services qualification and can go on to complete the full Management Accounting (CIMA) qualification.
A successful career in Accountancy is based on the ability to accurately perform technical tasks and employ wider business skills like effective communication, performance management and commercial awareness.
Successful completion of the Apprenticeship will grant your learner valuable exemptions from the professional CIMA exams. This can significantly reduce the time it takes to become a fully qualified CIMA Management Accountant. To achieve the Diploma, learners will need to complete the professional qualification and demonstrate competency in the core Technical and Business skills detailed in the framework.
