Silver, tough a beautiful and precious metal does
not enjoy universal popularity as Gold even today.
But, the younger generation is fonder of silver. They
like to wear silver jewellery Australia rather than
gold. It is a softer metal and should be taken care of
otherwise it can look tarnished. If properly
maintained, silver actually betters with age. Here
are few tips to take care of your Australian
jewellery.
Always store your jewellery in a clean and
dry, fabric lined jewellery box.
Do not put your jewellery pieces together in
one area of the box. It can rub against each other and get scratched.
Do not leave your silver jewellery pieces lying on wood. It contains an acid that can tarnish the
surface of silver. Same is with paper and cardboard as they are made from wood.
If the silver becomes dull or tainted, wash it with mild soap and water. Pat it dry with a soft
cloth.
If your jewellery is stained and cannot be cleaned at
home, you should take it to a jeweler and get it cleaned by
jewellery cleansing machine.
You could also use special silver cleanser available in the
market to remove heavier dust or tarnish.
Avoid wearing silver jewellery in chlorinated water as it
causes discoloration.
For smaller pieces like ring, earrings, nose rings etc. soak
them in soap water and clean the insides with a soft
toothbrush.
These are some of the tried and tested method that clean silver
and give it a long lasting shine.
