De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) has once again made a name as the Legal Education Board (LEB) recognized it as the top-performing school among the first-time examinees during the 2016 Bar Examinations (with a passing rate of 100%), Dec. 9, 2017 in Paranaque City.

For the past three years, DLSL’s College of Law (COL) graduates have been faring well in the said exam. In fact, the college was already able to produce a topnotcher. Atty. Reginald L. Laco, CPA, JD of the pioneer batch has made it as the fourth placer during the 2014 Bar Examinations.

Apart from the said recognition, DLSL has also been given by the above-mentioned board Certificates of Academic Recognition and Academic Merit as it ranked 10th in the overall passing rate and the eighth place for first-time examinees during the 2015 exams.

Christmas season was made more festive as De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) kicked off its holiday celebrations through “Paskong Lasalyano 2017”, Nov. 29, 2017, 5 to 8 PM at the Capilla de San Juan Bautista de La Salle.

Br. Jun Estrellas FSC delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing on the real essence of Christmas. Administrators, students, faculty, and staff gathered around a giant Christmas tree in front of the Capilla, listened to Christmas carols from Musikalista and DLSL Voices, and watched dance performances by the Modern Dance Club and JPIA.

Highlighting the event was the most-anticipated lighting of the giant Christmas tree. Not just a Christmas symbol, every star hung on the giant Christmas tree was the equivalent of

Php 1000.00 and Php 500.00 worth of gift received from students and Lasallian Partners for the benefit of DLSL scholars.

The project, referred to as the NEXT Christmas Star, spearheaded by the Advancement Office and in partnership with the College Stallion Drive, aimed to share the gift of education to deserving Lasallian students. The proceeds went to the Br. Ceci Hojilla FSC Mission Fund which supports Hilarian scholars from the Junior High School as well as to 60 families chosen as part of the College Stallion Drive’s adopt-a-family Christmas gift-giving project.

As of writing, a total of Php181,000.00 was collected through the said project. Two Junior High School scholars will benefit from the said amount.

Search-In ProgramThis weekend retreat is offered to interested Grade 9 students. It is psycho-spiritual in approach, utilizing reflection activities, group dynamics and prayer services throughout the weekend session.

“Bestowing holistic formation, promoting inclusivity, and instilling brotherhood and sisterhood to each of its members, the Search-In has long been a catalyst in deepening students’ spiritual and interpersonal relationships as they progress into adolescence. The program has shaped me to become a man for others by widening my horizon in faithfulness to God, sensitivity towards others, and serenity in mind and spirit.

It offered me tremendous opportunities to show love to the least, the lost, and the last. The Search-In has been one of the best things that have come into my life. I will be forever grateful for all the chances to serve selflessly through

sacrifice in order to be able to teach minds, touch hearts, and transform lives at such a young age.” – Clyde Guerra (Search-In Coordinator)

Si Kristo at Tayo (SIKAT) ProgramSIKAT (Si Kristo at Tayo), a socio-civic organization at DLSL, caters to the basic skills necessary for children especially those from Sitio Fatima and San Lorenzo. They are molded into good Christian followers, responsible citizens, and well-equipped individuals. The program functions through the volunteerism of its members coming from students and teachers from the high school and college departments. Volunteers commit themselves to become partners in sharing the Lasallian mission. These young men and women are considered co-workers in the various advocacies and activities of the school geared towards social transformation.

- From SIKAT Manual

In my service as a Si Kristo at Tayo (SIKAT) volunteer, I witnessed and experienced the willingness of student

volunteers and teachers to sacrifice their time and energy in teaching the minds, touching the hearts, and transforming the lives of the “Batang SIKAT”. Within two years of being a volunteer I felt the respect, compassion and love of the volunteers towards the kids and to each other. The time we spend as SIKAT volunteers are really challenging especially during the initial meetings. There was the feeling of awkwardness between the new and old volunteers, as well as confusion and exhaustion after every SIKAT activity. After a while, these feelings began to change as I continued volunteering. I felt more committed being a mentor to the kids because of the encouragement by my fellow volunteers, inspiring smiles from the “Batang SIKAT” and blessings from God who gives me the opportunity to serve. – Jose Miguel Villegas (President, SIKAT)
