dmTouch USB 3G Modem (Part Number : PR0496-3G)
This 3G USB adapter allows the user to send out alarm text messages from the dmTouch with software version 2.1 and above. Please note that this will only work when using a Vodafone standard size sim card that is enabled to send SMS. Note :- This will not work with older Data Managers.

Installation of internal 3G Modem for dmTouch
RDM will not be held responsible for any damage incurred to the equipment through mishandling or faulty installation of this part Instructions: 1. Turn off the dmTouch and isolate the power. Now remove the right hand side wing by unscrewing the 2 bolts at the
top and bottom of each wing. 2. Locate the USB ports at the bottom of the panel. 3. Ensure the SIM is enabled to send SMS messages. 4. Remove the modem from its packaging and remove the front of the adapter, by sliding it forward and insert the
standard size SIM card (Can be PAYG or Contract sim enabled to send SMS ) as shown in the illustration below.
5. Remove the top of the USB modem to reveal the USB plug. 6. Now fit the dual USB adapter into two free USB ports on the dmTouch (Note:- If there are not 2 usb ports
available, then a PR0624 (USB 4 port hub) must be used to connect the 3G modem to the dmTouch.) Now connect the USB modem to the free end of the USB cable.
7. Next replace the dmTouch front cover and secure it with the screw.

8. The unit connects to the Vodafone mobile network to gain access to an Internet connection. For this reason the
unit has to placed in an area of the building which has access to the Vodafone mobile telephone network.
9. The GSM modem hardware installation is now complete. Generate an alarm to confirm the modem is operating correctly (Use the dmTouch Installation Guide to configure the alarm actions and modem destinations.)
Under ‘Service’ – ‘System’ – ‘Miscellaneous’ – ‘3G Dongle Setup’. The information below is provided by Vodafone and is the standard setup information this can be confirmed by contacting Vodafone.
And Under ‘Service’ – ‘Alarms’ – ‘Modem Setup’, the type must be set to ‘SMS (GSM Modem)’
