DESIGN & DRAWING DEPARTMENT

Objectives: • Development of manufacturing drawings of Spare Parts,

Mechanisms & Assemblies to minimize proprietary purchases and thereby reduce cost of procurement.

• Development of Technical specifications of the parts for which drawings cannot be developed.

• Providing consultancy to the maintenance team for repair technologies and other technical issues.

CHALLENGES

The new machines of 7MT are multi disciplinary in nature.

Availability of spares for reverse engineering is difficult along with inadequate technical data.

The quantum of jobs from 7MT will be huge. To maintain the momentum of department with

lean man power at executive and non-executive level.

CONSTRAINTS

Separation rate is very high in comparison to intake.

Absence of latest tools Like 3-D Software, Basic Analysis Tools and Precise Measuring Tools.

Basic infra-structure and training in D&D is inadequate with reference to current 7MT capacity of our plant.

INITIATIVES

Adoption of DMS & online availability of drgs. Developing Tender Drawing/Specification to procure

equipment along with their fast consuming spares. Drawing development at Shop’s end for simple

parts. Procurement of 3D software. Pursuing Management for posting 7 (newly

recruited) Draftsmen in D&D Department.
