What are the behaviours and skills required for system leaders across
the public sector?
Why?
The shift towards a system wide approach to addressing
population health will require leaders who are able to work in a
different way. The NHS NWLA wants to collaboratively identify
the behaviours that are needed to enable effective leadership in the evolving health and care system.
Exploring…
• What will the collaborative systems-based landscape look like across the public sector?
• What behaviours will be needed for effective system leadership?
• How do some of the key models/ frameworks assist in our thinking around these behaviours?
• What do we need to do to develop these behaviours?

• Cross-sector stakeholder event: 60 colleagues from NHS, local authority, fire, police, housing, 3rd sector
• Working out loud: Harnessing the Wisdom of the Crowd via crowd-sourcing platform – 700+ responses
• Refining and reviewing: Interviews with leaders from the North West system
