Case Studies
- A case study is an in depth investigation and analysis of a scenario. The advantage in the case study method of
teaching is that it provides a great amount of description and detail about a particular case. This helps to set the
ground work for further studies.
INDUSTRIAL VISITS: Management Learning by Walking Around
An industrial visit is considered as one of the most tactical methods of teaching and hence VIT ensures that
industrial visits occur on an average once a month. It provides students with an excellent opportunity to learn
practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. It gives exposure from academic point
of view. Appreciation of Unity in Diversity in the context of Indian Culture was made possible through a visit to
Dakshina Chitra Heritage Village, Muttukadu. A visit to Times of India, Chennai enabled the understanding of print-
media as a business enterprise, while a visit to CIPET, Guindy helped understanding the design and manufacture of
plastic and metal products. Japanese concepts of Five S, Kaizen, and Lean Management practices were the key
highlights during a visit to Wheels India Ltd, Chennai. A.S. Shipping Agencies Pvt. Ltd, helped in understanding of
logistics and supply chain in the context of exports and imports.
