DOORDARSHAN KENDRA SANTINIKETAN
Santiniketan is the centre of international art & culture, because of the presence of Visva-
Bharati, the central University founded by nobel laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore. The Prime
Minister of India is the Chancellor of this University. It is also the home town of another nobel
laureate Dr.Amartya Sen. Santiniketan attracts tourists for its natural beauty, calm and pollution free
environment.
DDK Santiniketan PGF started functioning on 9th August in the year 1998 TECHNICAL FACILITIES The studio has three camera setup along with recording in Betacam format. One Betacam
recorder, one Betacam player, Grass valley switcher, eight channel audio mixer and lighting setup is
installed at studio. Also there is a Betacam edit suit with one Betacam recorder and player and Move
character Generator. The station also has an NLE editing setup with DPS velocity and soft image 3D
and one Betacam recorder. There are two ENG units in Betacam format and one in Mini DV format.
The LPT Santiniketan starts functioning from October’ 1984 and HPT was inaugurated on
11.11.2001.
DDK, Santiniketan is having two Transmitters.
(i) One is High Power 5KW UHF Transmitter which telecast DD-National.

General Transmission Time is as follows:- 1. DD-NATIONAL CH#21 (MONDAY TO FRIDAY)
05-30 hrs to 15-00 hrs. National Programme from Delhi relayed upto 15-00 hrs. 15-00 hrs. to 16-30 hrs. DD-Bangla Programme from DDK, Kolkata relayed (except Friday; in this day Misc. programme produced by DDK, Santiniketan telecast from 16-00 hrs. in continuation to DD-Bangla programme) 16-30 hrs. to 17-00 hrs. Agriculture based programme (Krishi Darshan) telecast from DDK, Santiniketan. 17-00 hrs. to 20-00 hrs. Again DD-Bangla programme from DDK, Kolkata relayed. 20-00 hrs. to 00-00 hrs. National programme from Delhi relayed upto close down. ( Saturday & Sunday )
05-30 hrs. to 15-00 hrs. National programme from Delhi relayed. 15-00 hrs. to 20-00 hrs. DD-Bangla programme from DDK, Kolkata relayed. 20-00 hrs. to 00-00 hrs. National programme from Delhi relayed upto close down. 2. DD-NEWS CH#9

This Kendra producing not only Tagore oriented programme but also rural based programme
mainly on rural culture, tradition and development. DDK Santiniketan tries to promote talents not
only from Birbhum but also from Bardhaman, Murshidabad and Bankura district.
This Kendra also produced a serial programme on all the songs of Gitanjali, Titled “Simar
Majhe Ashim Tumi”.
DDK Santiniketan received an Award for Best Regional programme for Pous Mela and also
received nomination certificate from National for Joydev Mela. Our Programme praised by Speaker,
the Governor of West Bengal and also by our own Directorate.
From 15th November 2004 we have started Narrowcasting Agriculture programme for 30
mts. duration form Monday to Friday. And we are the first to telecast Crop Seminar (Agriculture
programme) LIVE for two long hours. The Narrowcasting programme originating from this Kendra
also telecast from HPTs Asansol & Murshidabad and LPTs Bardhaman, Kalna & Raina.
Local transmission from this Kendra (other than Narrowcasting) started from 20.08.2010
only on Friday at 4-00 PM to 4-30 PM.
