UNIX TSG/ATM

PAS: Transactions in flight lost. ON2 swapconnection to affected PAS machine should be lostso ON2 should stop sending new transactions to it.“Other” PAS system should continue unaffected.If LINK and VISA were connected to PAS then theyshould both stop attempting to send transactions tothe affected PAS system and should continue routingtransactions to the “other” PAS system.

UNIX: System should recover and rejoin cluster not

moving application back to original node. Pas hostswould restart PAS processes

PAS: Same as above.UNIX: The application should stay down and alertthe relevant teams through patrol.

3 Loss of data replicator – shutdownstandby

DBA Logs build up on primary; start-up standby and seehow long it takes for standby to catch up. Standbyshould be able to catch up with primary databaseunder load.PAS: Should be transparent.UNIX: Patrol should alert us to the fact that theinterface is broken.

 

4 DB Down - managed take over  DBA Application fails over to standby database with noimpact

PAS: Should be transparent.5 Network failure UNIX TSG PAS: Not sure, would need more detail to decide

expected impact.UNIX: Also not sure hopefully the cluster will copeand make the correct decisions

 

6 Emergency shutdown for PAS ATMSYSTEMS

PAS: Shutdown should be “clean” with no errors.

7 Kill Child/parent PAS processes ATMSYSTEMS

PAS: Sorry, got to confess I don’t understand thisone?UNIX: either processes are restarted or patrol alertsthe correct team.

8 Kill LYNX processes UNIX TSG PAS: PAS should detect that Lynx interface hasgone down and start SAFFing messages for later transmission.

UNIX: either processes are restarted or patrol alertsthe correct team.

 

9 Controlled shutdown of LYNX ATMSYSTEMS

PAS: Lynx interfaces in PAS would be closeddown cleanly. PAS would SAF messages for Lynx.UNIX: Patrol should alert team required to restartapplication.

10 LYNX/PAS INET testing UNIX TSG/ATM

PAS: Not sure, would need more detail to decideexpected impact.UNIX: We will have to break inetd.conf and seeresults.

11 Corrupt Database DBA PAS: Impact unpredictable. Transactions and /or customer data adversely affected, includingfinancial amounts, system may be unreconcileable.Database restored and standby reinstated

UNIX TSG PAS: No impact on assumption that would have been cleanly shutdown before the Unix reboot.UNIX: The host will move package to alternate nodethen once back join cluster and leave packages whereis. PAS application should shut down and restartcleanly.
