All inspections — both on-site and in-house — are performed by ANST Level II-certified personnel to meet DS-1 specifications. In addition, certified Level III instructors provide in-house training and support to field inspectors.
On-site services include:
• EMI (electromagnetic inspection) with continuous wall loss measurement • Wet and dry magnetic particle inspection • A-scan full-body inspection • Lead gauging of threads • Hardness testing • Pressure testing • ID and OD cleaning • Portable (or machine shop) refacing • Straightening

ULTRASONIC PIPE INSPECTION Drill String Services performs full-body ultrasonic pipe inspection using the A-SCAN-2000™, which is designed to meet the most stringent industry requirements for new and used drill pipe, tubing and casing and heavy-wall landing strings. Using high-speed ultrasonic technology and a computerized data acquisition system, inspection reports are formatted to exceed industry standards provided in the T.H. Hill DS-1 Third Edition.
The computerized electronics system provides unparalleled accuracy and can accommodate pipe diameters ranging from 2-3/8” to 12-3/8” and range 2 or 3 lengths. The UT scanning head has fully adjustable transducer positions to allow for the implementation of infinite angles as specified by the customer.
This true immersion technology allows sound transmission to travel into the pipe wall, surpassing the capabilities of older wedge systems.

MACHINE SHOP SERVICES Drill String Services uses an API-registered quality management system to ensure the highest standards in the manufacturing and remanufacturing process, in addition to following ISO 9001:2008 requirements.
Drill String Services has multiple Mazak Powermaster hollow spindle lathes and can handle material up to 14 inches in diameter and 120 inches in length.
Available machine shop services include:
• CNC threading using Mazak Mazatrol controls • Sub manufacturing • Pipe boring for fiber optics • Machine refacing • Hardened and ground ring and plug gauges • Bead blasting, zinc phosphate or copper sulfate plating • Tubing and casing threading
HARDBANDING SERVICES Hardbanding protects drilling components from premature wear caused by drill string rotation and tripping. With an increased amount of directional, high-angle, high-pressure and high-temperature drilling, protecting drilling components is even more important in preventing downhole failures.
Drill String Services uses portable hardbanding units to maximize productivity and reduce customer downtime by hardbanding drilling components on-site.
