Dear Dwight School Class of 2000,
Our time is defined by change - whirling, swirling, tumultuous, uprooting change. It offers us new hope and possibilities, while at the same moment it can transform itself into a cyclonic plague. In either case the antidote is peace - quiet, meditative, tranquil, harmonious peace.
Balance in each of us can be found by cultivating inner peace in which we sense our timeless personal relationship and unity with others.
Your class has been immersed in the principles of internationalism and peace studies that underpin our International Baccalaureate program. We have taught how knowledge of one discipline can be linked with other domains of learning in order to unlock knotty questions. We have asked you to see issues through the eyes of others. You have learned meditation and Chi Gong in gym class. A Palestinian girl and an Israeh boy showed how the Seeds for Peace program could help bridge the gulf of enmity between Arabs and Jews. Across time and space, you reached out to adopt a school in war tom Kosovo, and that made a difference.
Class of the new Millennium, it is your role to make change serve peace, to use change in order to bring happiness to others. In doing so, you bring peace to yourselves.
With love and affection.

A good question is never answered. It is not a bolt to be tightened into place but a seed to be planted and to bear more seed toward the hope o f greening the landscape o f idea. The difference between a seed and an inert speck can be hard to see, but only one o f them will grow and return itself in kind and be multiplied. — John Ciardi

I joined the Theater Club more for its name than for what I thought it W u u i d b e like, i t tum ed out to bebetter than I e x p e c te d .............Through our work, which includes building sets, focusing lights, running cables, operating follow spots, and light sound boards, not only did we learn tobe familiar with such objects .............we made it possible for the actors to perform and for the audience to enjoy the show. ALUMNI ^AME 2 0 0 0THE DWIGHT TIGERS BEAT THE ALUMNI 107 TO 92
IN THE ANNUAL ALUMNI BASKETBALL GAME
On January 6, 2000 The Dwight School welcomed our graduates back for the first Alumni Basketball Game of the new Millennium. Hoping to avenge themselves for last year’s loss to the alumni squad, the Varsity Tigers fought hard for their victory, but the score was incidental to the great time everyone had — players, graduates, students, faculty, parent and past parents included.

Dear Class of 2000,
You are about to enter a world which is far more interconnected than when I graduated from high school. Information is made available far more quickly. People and businesses from around the globe are inextricably linked together, but decisions still require the fundamentals of sound reasoning and an ability to integrate information. The leaders of yesterday as well as the leaders of to morrow must have complex reasoning skills combined with knowledge of a diverse world.
There are four basic principles of leadership decision -making. First, there is no certainty. Second, you must weigh possibilities carefully before acting. Third, you must act in the face of uncertainty. Finally, judge your decisions not by the outcome but by the process.
Dwight has tried to teach you how to frame meaningful questions, weigh information carefully and then to act on a decision reached. This is central to Dwight’s International Baccalaureate mission: that ethos is part of you. Use your knowledge and skills wisely to help shape a healthier, happier future for all peoples.
Good luck class of 2000.
Fondly,
Stephen H. Spahn

Letter from the Editors:
As we began work on YB2K,the first yearbook of the new millennium, our vision was to produce a unique yearbook reflecting the end of the century and the beginning of the future. Inspired by Life Magazine’s anniversary issues, we chose a cover which would highlight years of Dwight School spirit and convey a sense of our school’s rich history. We hope that you enjoy the collection of covers past, which reflect the experience of generations of students and teachers who came before us.
YB2K was a collaborative project involving students across all four houses of our school. We believe that YB2K resonates with their varied interests and backgrounds. We thank everyone who contributei time, energy, and creativity to YB2K. It was a privilege and a pleasure to work with you all.
K, The Dwight School’s Yearbook 2000.
