Header vs Header and Detail: A template can consist of either a header or a header and a detail section. This template consists of a header, only. This is done when only one set of data is needed.

This example: This template is for aggregate slag correction factor. This factor is typically calculated once per day. Therefore, only a header is needed.

A template can consist of a header and a detail section. Data from the detail can be summarized in the header. Also, information from the detail section can be transferred to the header section.

The detail section consists of repeated pages. Notice the Page 1 o1 1 located in the upper right corner. Multiple Pages: A new page can be added by clicking the New icon. When multiple pages are used, then navigation arrows appear in the toolbar to navigate between the multiple pages. The New icon was clicked to add a second page. Now notice the Page 2 of 2 located in the upper right corner. Each Page is the same form, and is a new record within the template.

This example: In this template, each page is set up for a set location, denoted by stationing. The total at each location is totaled for the day and sent to the Header.

Calculations in Header: Calculations can also be made in the Header area.

This example: In this example, the total daily area (sum of all individual locations) is taken from the detail section to the header. Then a comparison is made on the quantity of seed actually used versus the quantity of seed that is suppose to be used by spec. The smaller value of these two is paid.

Only one template can return information to the DWR work item tab per work item entry.

Multiple templates can be used as long as only one template returns a value.

In this example: one template is used to calculate the area that seal coat is applied. A second coat is used to determine the pay quantity for the item.

Template ID: unique to each templateTemplate Description: description of the template. It is seen in the DWR Work Items TabActive: If this is checked, then the template is available to be associated to items and used in DWRsDetail/Multiline: If this is checked, then the template will have a header and a detail sectionReturn Field: The quantity in this field is returned to the DWR Work Item tab, then paid on estimatesPipe and Zip: If this is checked, then the template can be pipelined to standalone mode

Label: This data type is a text string. The user cannot input data into this type of field. Alphanumeric: This data type consists of a text string and a field the user can enter either letters or numbers. The letters or numbers are considered a string. Numeric: This data type consists of a text string and a field the user can enter a numeric quantity.Computed: This data type consists of a text string and a computed field. The user cannot enter information into the computed field. The computations for the computed field can involve both the data in numeric and alphanumeric fields.

Template Generation: The template is then generated. After the template is generated, the information shows up like this.

Panel size: The size of the header and detail panels can be adjusted in this window.

Exporting/Importing: The template is exported out of SiteManager and imported into PowerBuilder to align, format and add additional calculations if needed. The header and detail portions of the template are imported and exported separately. Here, the detail portion of a seal coat template has been imported into PowerBuilder.

Modifications that can be made to the template while in PowerBuilder will be discussed.

Grid: The dots on the screen is a grid system that aids in aligning the fields. Initial values: Initial values can be given a default value such as 0. Making the default value 0 allows the user to not be required to enter zeros in all the numeric fields that are in involved in calculations in order to make the template to calculate correctly.Tab order: the tab order can be set for the numeric and alphanumeric fields. So, if the fields are not in order when they are initially programmed in SiteManager, they can be re-ordered here.Properties of a field can be modified while the field is highlighted.More complex computations than in SiteManager

In this example: The first 8 fields for each template (both header and detail sections) are reserved for stationing values. This aids in querying process.

Attaching a template to a specific item on a specific project, on a specific conract. This needs be done before a template can be used with an item, when the contract is activated and when an item is added to the contract through a change order.Open a DWR, dwr work items tab, choose an item. The green icon will appear if there are any templates associated to the item on the contract. After clicking the green Attachments icon, a list of templates available to the user appears. The template can now be viewed and checked to see if any changes need to changed.
