Customer Message

We aim to be the third location for people in the community

We deepen bonds with people in the community through volunteer activities

Hiroshima Matsunaga Hall continues to run community-based activities in addition to interacting with customers. Everyone in this hall works together as one with the aim of being the third location for their customers after their homes and workplaces.

It makes us very happy to hear “I will go to your hall” from those in the community with whom we clean up together

We also help with the Getalympic event that is held once a year using geta (Japanese wooden clogs) that are a special product of Matsunaga.

Volunteering

We welcome customers with umbrellas for 15 minutes from opening time. This is very popular with our customers. “You do so much for us!”

Rainy Days

Yumiko OtoAssistant Hall Manager

DYNAM Hiroshima Matsunaga Hall is located to the west of Fukuyama in Hiroshima. We are found in a region adjoining Onomichi – which is famous as a sightseeing spot in Setouchi. e feature of our hall is that our customer base changes greatly from day to night. Most of our customers in the day are senior citizens. In contrast to this, our customers from the evening onwards are mainly young people who work in the shipyards in Onomichi. Many of our customers during the day are familiar to our employees and look forward to conversation. erefore, we need to deal with them in a relaxed manner. On the other hand, most of our customers from the evening onwards are young. is means I would say that they require a speedy response. Our employees are also aware of this dierence. ey respond to the needs of our various customers on a daily basis.

Kazuaki Shirahama, the Hall Manager in his second year since arriving at this hall, says he feels there is a challenge of low recognition in the region.

ere was even a person among those applying for a part-time job here who was not aware that this building is a pachinko hall. My experience at Tsuchiura Oce during the Great East Japan Earthquake has had an eect behind why I think it is important to build a hall rooted in the community. Most essential utilities were cut o at that time. I went to support the restoration of a hall. When I went there, I found part-timers bringing in meals and neighbouring stores and residents showing concern for us. I could feel the depth of the connection that hall had with the region of an everyday basis. I then made it my goal to build such a hall.

We have to work hard to get local people to know about Hiroshima Matsunaga Hall. With that in mind, we started to participate in volunteer activities run by the city. is is an initiative that we started this year. We have built up our interactions

with those in the community by taking the initiative to participate in cleaning operations and events organized by the city. At rst, some of our employees were confused by this. However, their understanding of the signicance of this and their participation rate increase each time we take part. Moreover, recently, we even participated in a volunteer meeting at the request of the city.

We set forth on a store concept “to become the third location for those in the community” after their homes and workplaces from this October in order to further stimulate these activities. Of course, it is important to improve our sales gures, but this concept came out when everyone thought about the way our hall ought to be in the more essential terms. is idea started to develop among our members through our various community activities and has led to an increase in overall motivation. I would like us to continue these activities with a strong will in the future so that our hall has an indispensable existence in the community.

I want to visit here again as if coming to see the face of my daughterI have a child about your age. ere are times when I do not win, but it makes we want to come again when I see your face as you patiently listen to me grumble.

It is fun to be greeted by customers!

I have worked at this hall for ten years. I have three children!

We want to have an indispensable existence for those in the community. We give power to Hiroshima with our energy and smiles!

History of Three Years of Promoting the Success of Women

We started various efforts for female employees in 2013. This is a report of the current situation after three years!

DYNAM sets up efforts to promote the activities of women in four cycles. We are continuing to enliven the activities of women by making good use of these four cycles!

This is an introduction to some of our efforts.

This is an effort in which newly graduated female employees are supported by more experienced female employees different to their bosses in their departments to establish them. This effort has been continuing since 2013 with this circle of female employees expanding.

Participants learned how to deal with senior citizens and those with disabilities. The aim of this was to be able to respond to the needs of all the customers who visit our halls. Participants took a basic service assistance examination at the end of the training program to acquire this qualification.

Par ticipants taught each other the basic manners of hospitality in customer service.

Overall Picture of Our Efforts

Introduction to Our Efforts

DYNAM Has Declared the Positive Action Statement Approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare

Mentor SystemThis is a project to give training to members selected from hall and head office employees to develop female managerial candidates.

Do you have any advice for younger employees about working while raising a child?

I was able to get to where I am today with the cooperation of my parents and the help of everyone at work. The number of people who have experienced working while raising a child has increased since the time I gave birth. Therefore, if you are having trouble, please talk to those around you.

Did you have any anxieties about your pregnancy/childbirth?

There were various systems in place at that time, but I was anxious because there was no one around me who had used them. However, I thought “I’m having twins, so I have to earn money!” Quitting my job was not an option. Therefore, I returned to work after three months of childcare leave with the support of my family!

Our various efforts for women (e.g. enhancing our maternity system and establishing a consultation desk/report desk) have led to our firm being assessed by 13 municipalities as a gender equality company.

*Municipalities that have assessed our firm as a gender quality company: [Prefectures] Akita, Miyagi, Chiba, Ishikawa, Fukui, Shizuoka, Gifu, Mie, Wakayama, Tottori, Yamaguchi and Tokushima / [Cities] Ohtawara

I believe that respecting and pursuing diversity is something we must achieve for DYNAM – which emphasizes the social meaning of our company’ s existence. We are continuing to expand the opportunities for women to be active by reforming the structure of our company and how our employees work to increase diversity.

We have declared that we will achieve four areas – improvement of the workplace climate, increase in female employment, support for the continued employment of women and an increase in female managers – based on the positive action statement found in the plan to promote the activities of women by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in March 2016.

We provide PR experience internships with those in charge of recruitment and public relations. We also hold various meetings for prospective female employees, such as discussions with female employees.

DYNAM Nadeshiko Project

We give training to selected female employees to strengthen the customer service skills that are a speciality of women. Furthermore, employees who have undergone this training conduct activities to convey this knowledge and these skills in their workplaces. This is leading to the success of this activity spreading steadily.

e nancial results of DYNAM JAPAN HOLDINGS for the interim period ended 30 September 2016 (1 April to 30 September 30 2016) are reported below. In conformity with the listing rules of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, our nancial reports are based on the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

In the interim period ended 30 September 2016, our gross pay-ins were 416,246 million yen (down 2% year on year), our revenue was 79,808 million yen (up 5.2% year on year), our prot in the interim period before income tax was 6,635 million yen (down 9.4% year on year) and out net prot for the interim period was 3,820 million yen (down 20.2% year on year). e main reason for our decrease in prot was from accounting losses due to market value conversion for the foreign currency assets we hold due to the appreciation of the yen. Nevertheless, our prot in the interim period before income tax excluding the foreign exchange impact remained steady at 8,074 million yen (up 11.6% year on year). erefore, we have decided to pay an interim dividend of 6 yen per share from the perspective of stable dividends.

In this interim period, our group opened three new halls with low cost playing machines and closed one hall as a result of a review of the business region. Moreover, we converted ve halls with high playing cost machines to halls with low playing cost machines and one hall with low playing cost machine to a hall with hall playing cost machines. is means that our group now operates a total of 444 pachinko halls as of the end of this interim consolidated accounting period. Breaking this down by type of business, 181 of these halls have high cost playing machines and 263 of halls have low cost playing machines. Overall, 59% of all our halls are those with low cost playing machines. In addition, the gross pay-ins and revenue of halls with low cost playing machines have been steadily increasing with an increase by 9.3% and 11.7% respectively year on year. * EBITA is calculated by adding nance costs, taxes, depreciation, and marginal prots/losses on foreign currency-denominated asset conversion to net income for the interim period.

We helped with activities at the Kameari Katori Shrine FestivalDYNAM Kameari Hall, Okabe Hall, Saitama Tokorozawa Hall and the staff of Tokyo Office

DYNAM Kameari Hall, DYNAM Okabe Hall, DYNAM Saitama Tokorozawa Hall and the staff of Tokyo Office participated in the Kameari Katori Shrine Festival. Kameari Katori Shrine was founded in 1276. This shr ine was regarded as the guardian spirit of the village because it welcomed a god called Futsunushi-no-okami enshrined in Katori Grand Shrine as a branch shrine. This was from a relationship in which the land of Kameari was called Shimosanokuni Kasaimikuriya Kamenashimura and was under the control of Katori Grand Shrine. DYNAM Kameari Hall participated in this festival af ter consulting with the Kamear i Go-chome Nishimachi Council that the hall belongs to with the desire to cherish their connection with the local people. Employees helped to prepare the venue serving as the departure point for the mikoshi (portable shrine) of the town council and the mikoshi itself, as well as helping to carry the mikoshi, over three days from Friday, 16 to Sunday, 18 September.

We continued to conduct recovery support activities in Kumamoto.

Recovery Support Activities

The DYNAM Group has donated a total of 72‚350‚088 yen to support

recovery from the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake.

We distributed the amount below to Kumamoto and six municipalities in the prefecture to support those in the region affected by the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake.

We were able to do this through the cooperation of all the customers who visited our halls across Japan and our group employees.

Minamiaso-mura (Visited on 30 May) Kumamoto Prefecture (Visited on 28 November)Mashiki-machi (Visited on 31 May)

DYNAM Ehime Toyo Hall donated gifts focused on daily necessities (e.g. masks, disinfection spray, wet tissues and cleaning goods) to the Saijo Toyo Sogo Welfare Centre. These gifts will be used in welfare facilities such as neighbourhood day services, day nurseries and childcare support centres. DYNAM Ehime Toyo Hall continues to donate gifts once a year. The director of this facility expressed his gratitude for this: “Thank you for always donating so many gifts.”

We helped to clean up Kujukuri Beach located on the east coast of Boso Peninsula in Chiba. We achieved this through the cooperation of the 11 DYNAM halls in Chiba, the staff of Chiba Office and the families of employ-ees. The children of employees also participated in this activity held as a part of recreation. Everyone gathered up the various pieces of rubbish (e.g. empty cans, PET bottles and plastic bags) washed up on the beach until the plastic bags everyone was holding were filled up completely. One of the employees who participated in this activity had the following to say: “I hope the children can enjoy playing on the cleaned-up beach.”

e enforcement of the current Law Controlling Business Aecting Public Morals

in 1985 made it possible to open halls with the same standards across Japan.

Two years after this, Sawa Shoji announced the change in the name of our company to

DYNAM that combines “DYNAMIC” representing the vitality of our rm and

“AMUSEMENT” expressing what we oer as a type of business.

DYNAM, which at that time only had nine halls in Tokyo and Saitama,

achieved rapid national chain development based on chain hall

management starting with the opening of a hall in Niigata.

Pachinko Experience for Welfare Party

Pachinko Experience Parties

DYNAM held pachinko experience parties in Azumien and other nursing care facilities.

We held pachinko experience parties. These parties made use to the Torepachi! pachinko machines for welfare developed by Toyomaru Industry Co., Ltd. in four facilities, including Azumien, operated by Leopalace 21 Corporation. The aim of this was to contribute to society in each region through pachinko. Employees of DYNAM from halls in the neighbourhood also participate in the recreation management. This is the first trial by our three companies.

Torepachi! is a pachinko machine developed specially for welfare training. These machines incorporate the need to make it easy to concentrate on training in each area. This means it is possible to expect motivation and fun to promote the rehabilitation effect in a series of games.

Moreover, in addition to Torepachi! machines, we had other “hit a target” games and smart balls with the motif of the Moories available. These were greatly enjoyed by all facility users.

The Azumien Facility Manager gave us his thoughts on this scheme. “The participants absolutely loved these meetings. It was also the first time for some of the participants to have played pachinko, so this was a new experience for them. It was possible to see expressions on the faces of participants that we don’t normally see. I guess this was the effect of Torepachi! We would like to continue training like this in the future.”

We will continue to strive to be able to contribute to the local community by providing pleasure through pachinko.
