Paradip Port @ 100 MMT

Paradip Port Trust achieved all-time high traffic throughput of

102.01 MMTs during the FY 2017-18 as against the previous

year's toal traffic of 88.95 MMTs exhibiting a growth of 15%,

informed Chairman, Paradip Port Trust Shri Rinkesh Roy.

While briefing Media Persons in a Press Meet held at Paradip. He

said, during the year, the Port performance parameter - Highest

Output per Ship Berth-day (OSBD) improved to 24,814 metric tonne

with 4.58 pc growth and berth occupancy was 72 pc as against 67 pc

of the previous years. The Port handled 13.55 pc more cargo to

emerge as a leader at par with international standard.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Ÿ A record quantity of 102.01 MMT of cargo handled during this

Financial year surpassing the previous year record of 88.95

MMT.

Ÿ A record quantity of 10.18 MMT of cargo handled during the

month of January-2018 surpassing the previous record of 9.42

MMT handled during month of December-2017.

Ÿ The output of ship berth-day of 24814 MT has been achieved as

against 23727 MT for the corresponding period of previous

Year & exhibiting a growth of 4.58%.

Ÿ Successful docking of MV Urja & MV Mineral Honshu, the Cape

Size Vessels with 1,00,000 MT & 1,17,983 MT Steam Coal at the

Central Quay CQ-1 on 05/11/2017 & 24/11/2017 respectively.

Ÿ A record quantity of 5,12,467 MT of cargo handled in a single

day on 25/11/2017 surpassing the previous record of 4,64,500

MT handled on 29/04/2016.

Ÿ All time record loading of 1,24,000 MT of Thermal Coal to MV

C K Bluebell & MV Vega Aquarius at MCHP on 08/01/2018 in

24 hrs has been achieved surpassing the previous record of

1,20,600 MT on 15/01/2016.

Ÿ Alltime record loading of 76,208 MT of Thermal Coal has been

achieved in MCHP on 13/11/2017 in 16:15 hrs with loading rate

of 4690 TPH (112553 TPD) and vessel TRT of 26.28 hrs (1.1 days).

Ÿ Successful movement of 24 vessels within 24 Hrs. on

03.12.2017. (9 vessels in 1st Shift, 7 vessels 2nd Shift & 8

vessels in 3rd Shift) has been achieved.

Ÿ Handling of vessels has been improved from 140-145 per

month to 175-180 per month.

Ÿ Night Navigation of Vessels started at South Oil Jetty.

Ÿ MCHP started handling of Iron Ore Pellet Vessels for first time in

the Month of October 2017 and generated an additional

revenue of Rs. 3.13 Crores towards handling of 574,080 MT of

Iron Ore / Pellet Cargo.

Ÿ Simultaneous handing of VLCC Vessels at SPMs.

Ÿ Record quantity of 69,318 MT of Steam Coal discharged in a

single day on 08/01/2018 from the cape size vessel MV

Aquajoy, berthed at CQ-1 surpassing the previous record of

58,912 MT on 04/02/2017.

Shri Sushanta Kumar Mishra assumed charge as Traffic Manager (TM)

and Capt. Atulya Kumar Mohapatra has been given the charge of

Deputy Conservator (DC) of Paradip Port Trust by the Union Ministry

of Shipping. Prior to their elevation, they were holding the posts of Dy.

Traffic Manager and Harbour Master respectively. Both the officers

have rich experience in their fields, which will immensely contribute

in further development of the Port.

ISO 9001 is a standard that sets out the requirements for a

quality management system. It helps businesses and

organizations to be more efficient and improve customer

satisfaction. A new version of the standard, ISO

9001:2015, has been launched, replacing the previous

version. Since it has been revised to meet the needs of

today's business world, PPT Hospital becomes the first

among various Departments of PPT to bag ISO 9001 :

2015. It will be valid till 23.04.2019. It is to be noted that

the 64 bedded multispecialty hospital has been

providing specialist health care services to the people in

and around the Port Township.

"Reinforce positive behaviour at the workplace to achieve safety

and health goals" as the theme, the 47th National Safety Week was

observed by Paradip Port Trust from 4th March to 10th March

2018. Attending the valedictory function as the Chief Guest Shri

Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT focussed upon importance of

celebrating safety week. He suggested for ensuring the upcoming

year as Zero Accident Year for PPT. He stressed on inculcating

safety mindset especially among workers.

Since, most of the accidents are occurring in dark hours, PPT

administration is going to install 50 Nos. of High Mast lighting

towers in addition to the 218 Nos. of existing High Mast towers

inside the Port prohibited area. Advance Warning System through

light and siren will be installed at Railway Level Crossings inside

the Port. Installation of Speed Governors and Traffic Squad

movements are being made tight to keep close vigil on rash

driving. PPT is endeavouring to ensure all movements inside Port

strictly through the Buses to be engaged by the Port to ensure

safety of the workers. Shri Roy stressed on Discipline and Safe

practices to make the Port - World Class. Thereafter, he awarded

prizes to the winners of various competitions organised on the

occasion.

Gracing the occasion, Shri Gopinath, Asst. Director, Dock Safety,

Paradip said to make Safety everyone's responsibility.

PPT continued its campaign for cleaning of Paradip town, as the

Traffic Deptt. and Administrative Deptts. carried out cleaning

drives in Nuabazar "B" & "A" type quarters, under Swachh Bharat

Campaign on 03.03.208 & 17.03.2018 respectively. The

message - "Our Cleanliness is the beauty of Mother India" was

spread out. The Officers and Employees of both the Deptts.

cleaned the wild growth of vegetation and road side garbage. In

order to keep the local people aware about the menace of plastic

plates, Street Play was staged at the Nuabazar and GJAI Colony on

31.03.2018.

PPT has made a year-long schedule to undertake cleanliness in

and around Paradip area on 1st and 3 rd Saturday of every month,

by each Department.

Cleaning Operations by PPT under Swachh Bharat Campaign

PPT Hospital gets new ophthalmic equipments

PPT Hospital got state of the art Operating Microscope for eye surgery and

Ophthalmic OT Table on 29.03.2018. Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT

dedicated the equipments for the service of the general public in the locality

in presence of Smt. Subhalaxmi Roy, President, Paradip Ladies Club, Dr. P.

Panda, CMO, PPT Hospital, Dr. D.P. Sethy, Eye Specialist and others staffs of

PPT Hospital. Ophthalmic surgeons need the best visualization to be able to

operate with the highest precision. Ophthalmology microscopes will be able

As a part of capacity augmentation

under Sagarmala programme, an

outer harbour is proposed by PPT at

an estimated cost of ` 8764 Cr. to

handle large Cape size vessels up to

2 Lakh DWT, up to 22 M draught.

Human Resources Development

A one day training programme on Cyber Security was conducted by Sri Sri University, Cuttack on 27.03.2018. 17 participants from different departments of PPT are participated.
