During the last few decades, a variety of studies dealing with terrestrial arthropods of Macaronesian islands

reported valuable contributions to Science, emphasizing the unique value of these model systems for scientific research. The Macaronesian biodiversity has also been the subject of many activities aiming to raise the general public awareness for its outstanding value, and the need to address further efforts for its study and conservation.This book aims to provide a synthesis of the recent developments made on the biology of Macaronesian terrestrial arthropods and to be a stimulus for further research in these islands. Through a series of essays it addresses various issues in the areas of island biodiversity, ecology and evolution and should be of interest for both students and researchers.
