Great idea for a Spirit Day, Student Council!!! Thanks, PTO for the wonderful Fall Festival. I loved the costumes. It would be difficult to judge the best costume this year. Thanks to everyone who donated to the chili dinner, too. We are celebrating Red Ribbon Week this week with the help of our fabulous PTO. Let’s pledge to be DRUG FREE. Here is the schedule: Monday-Red uniform shirt Tuesday-Crazy socks with uniform Wednesday-Neon-colored shirt with uniform pants Thursday-Jeans, wear a uniform shirt Don’t forget to stop in at the Book Fair this week. Times are posted outside the building. This is one fundraiser that funds our Birthday Books. Parent/Teacher Conferences are next week. Please pick up your child/ren at noon on both days. We will still have snack at our regular time. Did you know?: Next week the Alaska DEED will be making public the System for School Success Report. This report provides you, our families, and the community an individual, school-by-school index on academic growth based on PEAK scores, as well as school demographics. majority of students participate. Great idea for a Spirit

PTO ANNOUNCEMENTS – Christina Shontz

Fall Festival: We saw many EACS families at Fall

Festival this year, thank you for coming and having

fun with us! A great big THANK YOU to the amazing

team of volunteers for making this event a memorable

one, from baking to set up/clean up and everything in

between — Thank You!

Red Ribbon Week: Life is a Journey, Travel Drug

Free. Our campaign kicks off this Monday with

themed dress up days. Stop by and see the PTO

bulletin board in the lobby this week to see where

EACS students want to travel drug free.

Book Fair: The Book Fair is open all this week! We

also still need volunteers to help with sales. Please

Box Tops: Trim up those un-expired Box Tops and

send in by Thursday, October 25th to count toward the

first quarter totals. Students are looking forward to

winning that classroom trophy!

Military Appreciation: As Veteran's Day approaches

in November, we would like to invite all EACS

families to honor our military families by supporting

the Fisher House on JBER. Please see attached flyer

for more information on how you can help.

provide childcare in the gym during PTO meetings

(first Monday of each month). If you can help with

Fall pictures are coming home today. Every student

that was photographed should receive an envelope.

There is order information inside. If you are not

satisfied with the photo, picture retakes will be on

Wednesday, November 14. Simply have your student

return the picture envelope and they will be re-

photographed again. Let me know of any questions or

concerns. Thanks to all our volunteers that helped

make picture day a success!

SPECIALIST NEWS - PE, Art, Music, Technology

MUSIC – Lacy Harry

The students have voted and it looks like the music

department is putting on a Musical this year! This

opportunity is available to 4th-6th grade students.

Rehearsals will be Mondays and Wednesdays until

4:30, beginning in mid-November through the

performance date in March. Audition info will be

coming soon! In the meantime, I will need volunteers

to help with costumes, set design, and directing.

Specifically, we are in need of a volunteer to start

rehearsals at 3:30 until I am available at 3:45. If you

can help out, please email [email protected]

6th GRADE FUNDRAISER – Amanda Juliussen

CHRISTMAS WREATHS are being sold now until

Oct. 29th for $30 each. ETA for wreaths is 11/30 at

EACS. All proceeds help the 6th grade class go on an

end of year field trip to Homer! Order forms attached,

on Lobby bulletin board or see a 6th Grader to order.
