Four display homes open for inspectionYou’re invited to Halcyon Landing’s first

Open Day on Saturday 27 October from

10:00am -1:00pm. This is your chance to

take a look through our display village and

inspect the four new display homes that

are on show for the first time. In typical

Halcyon style, expect a relaxing day with

entertainment, refreshments and a preview

of the homes within the best new over 50’s

lifestyle community that the Sunshine Coast

has to offer.

If recent sales figures are any indication, it

seems that Halcyon Landing has grabbed

the attention of switched on baby boomers

from not just the Sunshine Coast but from

throughout Queensland and interstate as well.

The master planned lifestyle community’s first

stage is now already 50% sold out and more

than 40 homes in the first stage are occupied

or under construction.

Home buyers have been securing homes, eager

to take advantage of substantial incentives that

are still on offer. With sales stronger than

predicted, a second construction crew has

been put on to keep up with demand, and

future releases have been brought forward

to the market earlier than anticipated. From

just $409,000 you can secure a two bedroom

home with a study, large living area and

outdoor entertaining area in the Whistler

Release that includes many of Halcyon’s most

popular home designs.

If you’re looking further to something extra

special, nestled amongst the trees on the

northern boundary of the community lies

Nature’s Edge. This select precinct features its

own entry statement, unique contemporary

colour schemes, natural textures and upgraded

European appliances as standard inclusions

in Nature’s Edge have already sold off the

plan and only four remain.

at Halcyon Landing phone now for a private

inspection or come out and join us at the

Open Day on Saturday 27 October and

take a look through the four new display

homes that are now open for inspection.

From Lal Lal to Bli Bli, Geoff and Lyne

Chapman have finally found their Shangri-la!

Originally from Victoria, the Chapmans

regularly holidayed on the Sunshine Coast

and were always determined to one day

make the move north. Geoff’s retirement

from his position as a Collins Street Banker

in 2002, meant he and wife Lyne could now

follow their dream.

Having set up a home base at Mudjimba, the

Chapman’s dream consisted of spending

lots of time travelling, something they took

to like ducks to water. Along with overseas

trips to Italy, the Greek Islands, Turkey,

Vietnam and Cambodia, the Chapmans

have circumnavigated Australia and also

crossed the Nullarbor 14 times towing

their trusty caravan.

Sounds perfect? Almost; but the Chapmans

always had one nagging problem while they

were away on their travels, catching up with

their three children and eight grandchildren

who live in various parts of the nation.

“The house was a major concern, we were

always worrying about security, maintenance

and the garden while we were away, which

was often,” said Lyne. Another problem

was that the residential community they

lived in allowed rental properties and their

neighbours were constantly changing.

A search began for a new home base and the

Chapmans looked at all the options including

units, until they came across Halcyon Parks.

Impressed by Halcyon’s award winning

formula, they were intrigued when they were

told plans of a new Halcyon community set

to be built on the banks of the Maroochy

River at Bli Bli.

“We were actually one of the first to see plans

for the then-proposed community, and even

filled out submissions at a communications

day to help make it happen,” laughed Geoff.

The former banker was also shrewd enough

to see the benefits getting in early and the

couple took advantage of the ‘early bird’

savings and incentives on offer.

No stamp duty or exit fees were other

elements of the Halcyon formula that

interested Geoff. “Being able to sell and

benefit from the full value of the home is

attractive to both us and our family,” he said.

“The staff at Halcyon are 100% committed

and have been extremely helpful throughout

the whole process,” said Geoff. “We love

that we’ve had choices along the way and

that nothing is a problem for them.”

As for the location, the Chapmans couldn’t be any happier. They are living close by their beloved Mudjimba Beach and even closer to the Maroochy River and shopping. Even the street names like Waigani and Tasol

have an eerily familiar ring for the couple who

spent eight years living in Papua New Guinea

at one stage. “We think this is another reason

we are meant to be here,” said Lyne.

Now settling in to their new lifestyle, they

plan to keep on travelling, and this time they

are looking forward to not worrying about

things back home while they are away. The

future looks rosy with the Chapmans keen to

be a part of the growing community, catching

up with neighbours for coffee at the Rec

Club, trying out the pool, bowls and gym,

maybe talking some new friends into a canoe

paddle along the river.

It seems like another adventure is about

to begin for this fun-loving couple that say

this is their last move. “It perfectly suits the

lifestyle that we have become accustomed

to and we’ve never felt so comfortable with

a decision as we have with this,” said Geoff.

We’re building your dream Rec ClubConstruction begins this month on the jewel

in the crown at Halcyon Landing. Weather

permitting, within eight months, home owners

will be enjoying the benefits of their own

multi-million dollar Recreation Club.

Since many of the new home owners already

living at Halcyon Landing enjoy a spot of fishing,

we thought we’d get the low down on the best

spots to cast a line close by. With its enviable

location along the banks of the Maroochy River,

Halcyon Landing is just a short stroll down

to the river for some good fishing. From the

Bli Bli Bridge to the Motorway Bridge is a three

kilometre stretch that yields some great catches

and includes the famous ‘Cod Hole’.

Sandbanks, rock walls, deep channels and deep

holes are found throughout this stretch of the

river. In summer, large whiting, dusky fathead,

mangrove jack, trevally, mud crabs and sand

crabs are here in good numbers. In winter, it’s

bream, large mulloway, tailor and blackfish.

Boaties should check out the oyster leases

opposite the Bli Bli boat ramp. This is a great

place for bream in the winter and some huge

Catch of the day

whiting are taken here at night in the summer

using bloodworms. The Cod Hole is just

south of the Maroochy River Bridge and is

renowned for good hauls.

We’ve also heard that dropping a mud crab

pot baited with fresh mullet under the Bli Bli

Bridge is well worth the effort. But if all else

fails, head just up the road to the Suncoast

Barra Fishing Park! It’s the only barramundi

fishing park in Southern Queensland and is

home to one of the most sought after sports

fish in the world, the mighty barramundi.

• 25 metre lap pool with spa • Floodlit tennis court • Full size bowling green • Fully equipped gymnasium• Craft room• Library• Separate games room and dance floor• Seated lounge• Private cinema / meditation room
