Topics to be covered: The new Electrical Installation Regulations 2009, and it’s impact on all concerned, and also the latest information regarding the Certificate of Compliance

and test report, and completion thereof. A general overview of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 85 of 1993 (OHS Act), with specific reference to the interaction between the Act and

relevant Regulations. SANS 10142-1:2008, The Wiring of premises Part 1, Low Voltage Installations: Amendments 6 & (imminent) 7, (technical session only) Introduction & scope of the new SANS 10142-2:2009, The Wiring of premises Part 2, Medium Voltage Installations. The functions of the proposed Electrical Registration and Inspection Council (ERIC), and the Electrical Contracting Board of SA (ECB), advantages and

obligations. Background, functions and future of the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and also the newly established National Regulator for Compulsory

Specifications (NRCS). Approved inspection Authorities (AIA) and their functions,

Who should attend? Non Technical (morning) session: All users of electrical installations; Owners, developers and managers of properties, estate agents, conveyance attorneys, consumers and the public at large.

Technical (afternoon) session: Designers, installers and testers of electrical installations; electrical contractors, registered persons, consulting engineers, municipal engineers, inspectors, government departments, property developers, builders, project managers, electricians, and all involved in the installation, repair, inspection and testing.

Presenters includes five Master Installation Electricians, three with electrical contracting experience, seven representatives on SABS workgroups, five were involved with the revision of the EIR 2009, five is registered with ECSA and five are members of SAIEE. There are even two past Chief Inspectors of factories, and an AiA. They include: Jakes Malatse, Pieter Laubscher, Andre du Plessis, Tony McDonald, Thabo Modise, Patricia Mazibuko, Chris Koen, Mark Palmer and Cecil Lancaster.
