Overview

The Eweclid Spelling App is designed to supportclassroom and home-school instruction for spelling.

Eweclid was designed by mobile app designers,elementary school teachers, curriculum experts, and iPadprogram administrators to help kids learn, apply, andretain knowledge and skills.

Adaptive feedback (the Personal Tutor) providescustomized bonus lessons for each student to lock inretention and manage areas for improvement. Kids getdouble-points for completing these reviews.

The Spelling Lists Included

There are nine lists of spelling words included in the app,named A through J. (We skipped I because it looks likea 1). The lists get progressively more difficult andgenerally cover Kindergarten to 5th Grade spelling skills.Choose the list thats right for your students.

Contact us if you are interested in custom spelling lists orapps for your school or students.

The Eweclid Spelling word lists are included below. Eachlist includes roughly 30 chapters, one for each week ofthe school year with time for vacations, holidays,standardized testing, etc. The chapters include four tofifteen words depending on the level of the course. Theselists are in current use at a leading elementary school inNorthern California. Where possible, we includeddescriptions of the words.

In some cases, the words are chosen because they are

related to classroom reading materials. In the case thatreading sources are noted, please understand clearly thatneither the author nor the publisher necessarily endorsesEweclid in any way.

Further, if you like these spelling lists, we hope you willbuy those books for you and all your students and usethem in your instruction.

The Eweclid Personal Tutor

Eweclid K-5 Spelling includes a free Personal TutorService for each student using the app. The PersonalTutor models each students individual mastery andretention of spelling knowledge and provides custom,personal bonus lessons for each student. These bonuslessons appear in the bottom left corner of the openingscreen upon login.

The application will change from bright green to darkgrey when the Wolf appears. The Wolf brings the bonuslessons, and students are rewarded with double points.

Students should use their Eweclid Personal Tutor accountfor all their Eweclid apps (Math, Spelling, etc.).

How to Use Preferences

Preferences apply to all students using the app. If manykids will use the same iPad, as in a classroom setting, werecommend changing Classroom Mode to ON.

Classroom Mode. The Eweclid Personal Tutor Service isfundamental to classroom mode use. Classroom Modeallows kids to login on any iPad with the Eweclid Appwithout setting up an account on that iPad.

In this way, many kids can share many iPads in theclassroom. Simple passwords (1-chracter if you wish) aresupported so make logins easy and quick. If you buyEweclid for your school, please contact us and we will

help you setup the logins, if you like.

How to use Eweclid in the Classroomand for Homework

The best way to use Eweclid in the classroom is insupport of spelling instruction. Here are some ideasabout how to use the application in this way.

1) Allow students time to play chapters related to thisweeks lesson plan. This will reinforce classroominstruction in a fun way for the students.

2) Allow students time to play bonus lessons. This iscritical for retaining skills from previous weeks.Each student should have a Eweclid Personal Tutoraccount (contact us if you need help). The EweclidPersonal Tutor will provide customized Spellinglessons for each child based on their progress andretention. Completing these lessons will provide apowerful review for students so that they retainwhat they have learned.

3) For Spelling homework, make playing Eweclid athome an option for both this weeks lessons andespecially for the bonus lessons. Tutor accountsmake sure student learning data and game datatransfer automatically between home and school.Require students to repeat chapters until they getfive stars for the chapter.
