Eruption style: will it flow or will it blow?
Two major eruption styles are controlled by magma composition. Effusive eruptions are mostly basaltic and produce lava flows. Explosive eruptions are mainly rhyolitic; they blow up.

R-waves are the last to arrive. The land surface undulates like ripples across a pond. These waves usually last longer than the other kinds. R-waves cause extensive damage.
